However, as Clive suggests, by following a pogo through, you should be able to spot the deepest water before you take a bath.

:D

Greg

Just don't follow me cos I found a big hole, and boy that water was cold!

My guess is at its deepest point it could be as much as 3ft of water in the pot holes.

And I refused to go through Standon Ford because i didnt want to get my boots  wet.

and I've only ridden through it twice and can't remember which sides have the shallow bits in

Looks like we are all following you then Dave :D

Im following Clive im taller than him so if he can get through withought drowning so should i. :thumb

Well I would like to give it a go.... standard 1150 with TKC80's.

Was wondering why you would want to remove the cat and engine bars, is it because of water ingression?

At the end of the day if there is a way round some dodgy stuff that might be an alternative :o

Got a job.... got to go

Personally, I would have though that taking the engine bars off wouldn't be a very good idea!

It doesn't matter about the weight - it just gives him more momentum to ride over the pogos that get in the way

:D

Herts

Hi all.

Is there room for 2 more GSers.. er on GSs? Is it now on saturday?
Dont all shout at once...

Good Idea, I'm riding up from Gloucester first thing sunday morning and have to swap from the GS to the KTM in Essex then get up to South Mimms.

Thats it now Clive the pogos know that there only there for traction for the proper bikes :thumb :ukgser

A few thoughts about Sunday’s Wombat Hunt.

As there’s going to be quite a few of us, we’ll have a leader (me) and a sweeper (who will be Clive on his blue pogo).

The weather is forecast to be overcast and cold. You will get wet and muddy, so wear appropriate gear.

The route is about 60 miles, although I don’t actually expect that we’ll fully complete it. But make sure that you have enough fuel for the trip as there aren’t too many filling stations en-route.

I’ll post my mobile number on this thread at 9pm on Saturday – but it’ll only be here for half-an-hour. The wombat posse will leave South Mimms at 10am Sunday unless I’ve heard from you to say that you’re running late.

In places the going will be extremely heavy and sticky. Make sure that you have sufficient space in front to avoid anyone who takes a tumble (or who is just parked up waiting for the group – NB snoopy please note!!)

If a rider near you has taken a face plant, you will be allowed a short period of piss-taking, but then you should assist in uprighting the bike (shouting instructions from the comfort of your saddle is an inadequate response!)

We will regroup at the end of each lane.

We have to ride through the town centres of Hertford and Ware. We’ll use the ‘drop-off’ system. If you’re not familiar with it, please ask at South Mimms.

I expect that we will encounter horses. If we do, please turn off all engines until the horse(s) are past.

I plan to take lunch in a licensed tea room at Westmill. They have an outdoor covered and heated area (I’ve asked them to refill the heater gas) and serve light meals. I think the place is ‘cash only’. I hope we get that far!!

If, at any time, you want to bail out of the Wombat Hunt, just say!

It’s going to be a great day! See you all at South Mimms.

Would a tank bag with waterproof cover be advisable or not for camera phone etc?

I ask cause I was going to remove the topbox as its in the line of fire in an off.

Or is a hepko and becker box ok to leave on?

Not offroaded with a topbox before

Looking forward to it...

Jon

I'd suggest that you run your bike a light as you can.

Greg

PS If you're working on Saturday night, you can use my mobile number that's on the pulse - calls are diverted to my personal phone.

Am going to try and make, but if so will be on the GS as no MOT or tax on the pogo.

If I am there I am there
