Was away for the day today and did about 300 miles in total and noticed when i was rolling on in 5th and 6th gears there was a flutter in the power delivery between 5 and 5,500 revs ............ pulls fine then a brief delay and feeling of power loss then bangs straight back in again .

I noticed it once or twice in 4th but in the lower gears you go through the revs so quickly it didnt register then (i have spent the last 4-5 years riding a 16,000 rev Jap 600 so bear with me). Standard exhaust with the cat still fitted.

At the moment i have an issue with a battery that is being replaced as well as not holding charge but didnt think that would cause this hesitancy.

Any ideas

I had this same problem - The stealer said it was the Hall Sensors and they were replaced under warranty.

Wait for steptoe - he'll be along soon...

I think it is just the flat spot.....same with mine with new, grey coil/plug caps.

With the coils going, you get propper stutters and it doesn't want to rev right through.

I think Steptoe's little jump lead under the fuse box is the fix for the flat spot, not sure. I haven't done it yet - you can get a yellow plastic plug in from BMW that does the same thing...I think Steptoe's version costs about 2p, the BMW version about £20.:D

That's exactly what mine did when one of the stick coilpack died. It also idled very slighly slower. Very simple to check.

Thanks for the suggestions and will start checking.

I had thought it was just an noise testing flat spot with the Cat and standard pipe fitted but wanted to check in case as i had been reading other threads about coils and plug caps causing rough running
