Been looking for something lighter (both weight and colour) to wear during this weird heat thing we're having at the moment - can't be summer, can it?

Just downloaded the latest HG catalogue (as website still not done for the UK  ), and noticed the Tuareg Summer II Combi trousers at £80 - anyone tried these? Or the Tuareg Trail trousers?

I like both of these also because they come with zip off trousers so would be useful when off the bike too :thumb

Any info?

Yup - I have last years models with the zip off bottoms to make em into shorts. Very comfy with zip vents in the upper leg. Light weight but still feels they will give you some protection in a spill. I have the extra hiproc pads in the his and knee protectors . I used them 3 days solid down at the BMW Enduro park in Hechlingen recently and the stood up to all kinds of abuse and sweat . Great bit of kit but I don't think I want to try their abrasion resistance on asphalt.......

Thanks Gecko :thumb

Got my normal stuff to wear if I'm going any distance or speed on tarmac, so this will just be for bumbling around on the stony greenways over here - current stuff is too warm this time of year.

Just a thought, but if that's the case Ben, you culd be as well using MX knee protectors & some army surplus combats. Normal MX pants are fairly heavy duty, like combats. Use these with pukka MX/enduro boots & you've a good degree of protection, but can also stay cool.

MX/Enduro/Trial boots are a whole other issue, Paul :D

All the one's I've tried on over here (in Road & Track as they have the best selection of off-road gear) are too small around the calf opening.

If I find the right size for my foot, most of the time the velcro bits at the top won't meet - my calf must be too large or something. New boots may have to wait until I come to the UK next (prbly in October or something).

I bought the Tuareg Summer II jacket and trousers last week as my Rukka kit was too hot in our mini heat wave.

They are brilliant, open up the vents and the air passes through and cools you down a treat. I added a Hiprotec back protector too so the whole lot came to about £205.00.

I agree, I wouldn't like to test them out in a big spill but when it's red hot you need to be comfortable.

I've got them on today too so I'll no doubt be testing out how much they leak on my journey home!

Not wet yet but forecast is for rain later today.

I should perhaps point out that when playing seriously off road I wear full MX Knee protectors and Sidi Discovery boots but the trousers are HG's summer jobbies. : see pic but for a bit of occasional gravel or just being comfortable on tour they are fine.

Damn, I'm getting the same colour trousers :P

Boots etc are on the list, mainly coz my Gaerne road boots are getting a bit long in the tooth now. Still work Ok though.

Same trousers without the knee pads this time :D

Tuareg Summer 2, BRILlIANT, but are now not readily available as they are considered last years model, however I have been able to get some from HG Germany (cheaper).

We are so 'Ripped Off.'

This could be interesting then - I've just sent mine back to HG as they were too large. Wonder what will happen now  :D

I was at the Hein gericke shop in Aachen (Germany) on Saturday and they still has a good selection of the touareg summer jackets and trousers . It was interesting because they had a number of styles I haven't seen before.
I ended up buying a full 2 piece suit in grey with black shoulders and upper arms. I dunno what model it was but it was marked down heavily on their close out rail. I thought it was going to cost just €200 (Just the jacket was marked down from €459) but when I got to the check out the guy asked if I had a customer card - I said no - he said sign up today and get 25% off any one item - so in the end the whole suit cost me just €175 .(Euros not pounds !!) Jacket and trousers with shell tex waterproof breathable cordura material - thermal inner liner - mutts nuts for about 150 quid. :D :D :D

I bought HG Touareg Summer trousers at the HG stand at the BMF this year - £29 -and very cool.

Bugger, just been in contact with HG after returning the trousers for a smaller size, and they're are no large trousers in the UK, and the line is now discontinued so no more to come either.

They can offer me a refund or I can go for something else - hmm, any ideas on the Rallye Raid, Rallye Basic or Tuareg Trail trousers? With the difference in price I could add in the hip armour too :nenau

Just bought a mint condition BMW Seattle goretex jacket off a mate for £40, threw in a Tuareg jacket of unknown vintage, but also in good nick. Tuareg seems very plasticy. It is red, white and black, no armour at present, but there are pockets. Don't know if it worth getting armour as an off would probably shred it. Anyone got any idea how old this is from the description.
Shell is PVC COATED NYLON!!!!! Lining is "Quilted Alu" .
Only thing that appeals is that as it is mostly red & white and cooler for the current hot spell.
