Round 'n' round in circles.........
My newly discovered brand new Savanna trousers did not come with any hip armour. :nenau

So last week I rang the local dealer and got some on order, so far so good.

Collected it last night (just two pieces) and fitted it into each one of side pockets. :thumb

But in doing so I noticed that in fact there are two seperate pockets (both differant shapes) on each leg in which to fit extra padding.

I have rung the dealer this morning and questioned if in fact there should be two lots of hip armour padding for each side. :nenau They have said no, only one is listed

BUT, why have two pockets then??

It would make sense to me coz the ones that I have been given, fit quite low down the hip, where as this secondary pocket is sitting right next to the hip bone.

So can someone who has a pair of the Savanna II trousers just see if they have two lots of padding fitted in each side please?

Thanks in adavance.

Good info BTBR, i always fancied what those pockets are for.

But i think those 1 pair of additional pockets are just "hidden" pockets mayhaps? For money etc.

How much the protectors costed and what are the part numbers if it's not a secret?

... in my Rally 1 troos

I've got hip protectors in my Rally 1 trousers. OK they're not the same as Savannah, but they share a lot of parts.

Both have the same ref. nos etc but different shapes of course.

BTW they work!

Out of interest Septic, are your protectors a lot smaller than the actual pockets of the Rallye 2 or a snug fit like the Rallye 1 as shown above? Mine are considerably smaller and wonder whether they've given me the correct ones.

Actually, now that I have turned the one leg inside out, it looks like I have the incorrect one as well :nenau :nenau

It does not fill the pocket in full does it?

But you can also see the "other" pocket by the side of it.

The part number for the ones in the picture is:- 73607688994 @ £5.54 each

BUT that looks like a dealer stock number and not a BMW one?

Wrong ones.

All the Hip-protec stuff fits all the suits and it is four pads (two each side).

The Hip-protec is black as in the photo above. I have the same stuff, so far I've used the same pads in three different BMW suits.

My mate ordered some from our dealer for his Atlantis III and some for his wife's Savanna suit.

They sent the orange stuff for the Savanna but it's wrong. It's a glitch with the BMW computer.

Take it back and insist on the four-part set. And have about another £25 with you! ;)

What do you need armour protection for? You gonna wear these trollies on your pushbike or are you trying to tell us that you have finally got a ptw on order...come on now spill the beans!

Thanks Mike, is nothing in life easy any more.... :spitfire

Yup, that orange jobbie is definitely WRONG.

When I ordered mine, good old Tim Angus threw in a new pair of Rally 1 trews as well, gratis!

Collected the correct hip armour today :bounce1

The correct BMW part number is 72 60 7 667 331 and it is a two piece set.

So it goes without saying that you will need two of the above part numbers for one pair of trousers.

Hope that helps at least someone else :nenau

Hip Protec is sold in 2 piece sets from all Hein Gericke shops. Looked at some on Saturday and they were £19.99 a set. Soft, floppy, rubbery stuff to the touch and not as hard as I would have thought for body armour.
