Hi all, I have a question around retrofitting a sat nav to 2011 gs.

I have an 11 plate gs and im thinking of retro fitting the lockable newer sat nav cradle/mount. Im a bit confused about which plugs I need. The original sat nav cradle has two plugs, would I be correct in thinking a 3 pin repair plug from motoworks ( number 83300413586 ) plugs into the white plug from the cradle but I only use 2 of the 3 wires for power/negative and the third signal wire is not used. And the black plug from the cradle has two pins ( I’m assuming a positive and negative feed? ), what plug do I need for the black plug? I can use one feed from the bike loom at the neck under the headlight fairing and source another feed from my hex easycan for power. As I don’t have a wonderwheel, is it as simple as getting appropriate plugs to fit the ends of the two cradle power cables and connecting to pos/neg on each connection? Thanks Dan

the second plug I believe is some madness for the radio tuner on the RT - it does nothing on a normal GS

the Sat Nav plug is the same and they all work - if the bike had ABS the third wire sends a signal to make the BM nav cope better in long tunnels

Great, thanks for the reply, that cleared up my confusion. Looks like a simple plug and play. 👍

I'm curious of which locking mount you've chosen? Most are rubbish and access to the lock itself on the GS is an equal pita. So I designed my own, it's is now patented - I've sold a few, some left of you were interested.

Have you got any more info, is it a locking mount that accepts the bmw powered cradle?

Tried to pm you, but maybe you're not a member yet?

My locking device right now it's configured to accept the OEM mount for the Garmin XT. That might blow it out straight away as I'm unsure which satnav you have (or intend to buy?).

The lock position on the BMW mount is in a pita location. Mine will accept the OEM mount for the satnav (as above, that's currently for the Garmin XT - other OEM mounts to follow). The Garmin mounts usually come with the powered option and can connect directly with the plug in the dash.

Oh thanks for getting back to me, i have a carpuride and am trying to source an original bmw mount so it can be locked.

Looks like an interesting unit
My device will work with this - in a reconfigured state though, so not readily available.

Not sure I'm so much help with your original query. Are the two plugs you refer to identical? If not, then maybe that will help narrow it down, meaning only one will connect to the loose plug on the GS? If they're identical, you'll need someone who knows more than me!
