Hi Viz Vest

Everyone’s wearing hi viz these days - truck drivers seem to wear it full time, all the gardeners on roundabouts or stimming verges etc. It’s also law to drive with your headlight on but all the cars have their’s on these days so bikes are pretty much invisible anyway.

I believe it's also going to be the same in Spain come October.

So if I have a high viz Helite turtle airbag….do I have to put another high viz vest over that?…..
🤣🤣🤣

Yes, I wear a hi-viz all the time, never would consider driving abroad now at my age. :D
Anything that gives me an added advantage between myself and other road users, I choose that option, but also it's gives me 4 extra pockets for stuff I bring along for the ride. :nod

It seems to work, as you’ve seen (spotted) the fellow doing the weeding on the roadside. Better to have clocked his presence than to have smacked into him, I guess.

Bearing in mind ChssFs response above...Im really not sure everyone on the planet wearing hiviz yellow gives us any sort of advantage anymore. A Yellow vest just gets lost amongst a sea of others....Id go for an Orange vest as they are a subtle change. (And I'll have no issue carrying one on the bike when abroad...takes up less space than a pair of socks)

Why do many bods stick reflective tape to the rear / sides of their panniers and sometimes different coloured reflective tape / stickers to the front of their bikes?

Wearing a hi-viz jacket significantly improves your visibility in low light conditions, helping others see you more clearly and enhancing safety in high-risk environments. This can be crucial for preventing accidents, especially when working near traffic or in poorly lit areas.
Be seen at night, and do not step onto any high speed motorways, even with one on. Yellow, Orange or White!

This is a great idea as the bike rear lights are usually pathetic little visible things day or night, cars at least have the usual two lights mandatory fitted, bikes just one.
So stickers on the rear specially on Pannier boxes, good idea, much better than non reflective crappy stickers, nobody can read at distance anyway. :green gri Be seen stay alive!

When truck drivers where first told, not asked, too wear Hi-viz over jackets while in any Dockside areas, many protested, soon they either wore them or where instantly banned from entry until one was worn.

Wear them now before it becomes law, for all...simples! :D It's coming, wait n see!
