Right, have 35 w HID fitted to dipped and full beam on 12gsa. Travelling to Germany next week and as the nights are starting to draw in, I will be riding in the dark. Don't want to pee anybody off, so what the best way to cut the beam for driving on the left, without using the little lever that drops beam down (drop the beam down just means you can't see where your going)? :thumb2

I've ridden through Spain / Morocco with HID'd dip beam and wasn't flashed once so I don't think I'd worry too much about it.

TBH though I'm sure that with a HID bulb, even dropping the beam down a bit will still give more than suficient light for night time riding.

Thanks Andres for that :thumb2, still would like to know if there is something else though, maybe there is a sticker that you put on the headlight like you do on cars?

The beam is pretty much asymetric so a sticker will not, unfortunatly, do bugger all.
There is some left to right adjustment though, IIRC, form a small cross head screw at the side of the lamp housing - I'm sure somebody will be along soon to confirm this (or not).

rode to italy & back with 2 x 50w HIDs, didn't get flashed once.

did last night in uk though :augie

With cars, I've always:

- parked it level some distance from a wall (preferably white and smooth)
- used a bit of insulating take to find part of the area you want to 'blank out' and then add little bits of tape until you blank out all of the eara you want
- then, if you're posh' you can make a single piece with fablon (Blue Peter!)

The advantage of lowering the dipped beam on a 1200 GS is that the main beam will be in the right place rather than spotting owls in the trees.

Drove my F650 in England (hee i'm Dutch..) and they flashed like lightning :augie
Put the sticker on (bought it on the ferrie EXpensive) problem solved.

My Lights

have just done 3336 mile trip & 1500 mile trip
have 50w hid on dip & main
and 35w in two spots (on all the time)
i dont give a f"'k if it pisses people off
i know fact that on so many occasions i have watched in the distance cars go then stop when they see the strange three lights on in the distance
one light is the norm
you know the one they never see
but the triangle of hids is strange and people think fu$k its the old bill and stop
now one thing to remember is
when fully loaded or misses is on the back
tip the leaver on the back of the light housing down so the lights are then pointing down to compensate for the weight in the back
also with the hids i have lowered them down even further by adjusting the screw on the back
:mcgun
