I'm off to Spain soon, will my 2013 RT need anything on the headlight as I'll be on the 'wrong' side of the carriageway.

Yep, there's some special white reflective stickers (BMW PN: 63.21.2.349.222 for a pack of 5, £1.51) two of these have to be cut to a special shape, your Motorrad dealer should provide a print out when you buy the stickers.

I didn't bother on my 2012 RT (or any other bike) and didn't have any issues in Spain last year. Does the RT even dip to the left or does it have a flat beam?

Had 6 weeks all over Spain in July /August on a K16, I did nothing to lights, no issues whatsoever. I really wouldn't worry
I ride in Spain and France etc. at least twice a year, and i'm leaving for France again tomorrow on my new RT.
I have never modded my headlights on any of my bikes, and i've never had any problems when riding at night.

Ok cheers I'll see what my mates want to do then, i have noticed that in bike mags pictures of bikers abroad none of them have anything on their lights.
Are helmet stickers back..........for France?
I was in France in May this year, and was assured by my ex-pat mate that i was visiting. That he, nor his local biker mates bother with stickers, hi-vis or breathalyzers. And i've never had any problems either.

At your peril! I live in France and work in the UK and from time to time ride my bike back and forth. You are required by law to carry a reflective waistcoat/jacket in the avent of an emergency. If you take nothing else from what I say heed that one, because if you breakdown and are not visible (not invisible, before the jokers jump in) with your Hi-Vis on, the law will see that as an excuse to check everything including camera warning on GPS. With regards to the illuminous stickers on your helmet, well it's French law, but to be honest it's not really policeable, just don't give them a reason to check you out.

Iv'e never done anything with my light either except lowering the beam to allow for a fully loaded bike. Not many people ride at night whilst on holiday anyway.

I've never modified light in several trips/years. I did take high viz vest last year, buried in panniers, just in case. In the absence of definitive answer, to avoid an excuse for being stopped, last time I complied with dodgy helmet stickers, but not convinced they were necessary. Breathalysers not required, but is a first aid kit? Bulb replacement kit is required I think. Despite tripping many a speed camera, never been stopped to test any of this...

Wrong! Do not get confused with the law that they tried to introduce which was "all motorcyle riders above 125 would have been required by law". Thankfully that law did not get off the ground, but hi-Vis in the event of emergency breakdown is a must.
