HID Bulbs

If You Buy the H7R Anti Glare upgrade you get:-
Superior beam pattern compared to standard HIDs. Precise focus with the light source exactly aligned to replace the halogen bulb. More light on the road precisely to benefit the rider and minimizing glare for oncoming traffic.

HID lights have been shown to contribute to driving safety, studies have demonstrated that drivers react faster and more accurately to obstacles with HID lights rather than halogen ones. With 300% more light than a standard halogen bulb you will be amazed how much better you can actually see driving on dark roads.

Canbus HIDs the only ones that work with the new bikes without turning off other lights to get them to work! Grab one for a christmas present. :thumb2

Whilst the headlights fitted to most bikes may look impressive, their performance rarely lives up to expectations and can leave you with very poor visibility at night. The Xenon Bulb is a micro-discharge bulb filled with a mixture of noble gases including Xenon (This is not to be confused with many manufacturers who call their halogen bulbs Xenon). The bulb has no filaments as the light arc is created between two electrodes, giving it a wider range of illumination. As an Adventure Rider these lights are a MUST!!!

HID info

Hi Pete,

Hope the info helps to your question:-

There are several advantages to HID sources:
  • relatively long life (3000+ hrs) halogens typically last around 300-500 hours
  • high lumen output per watt. Halogens are around 900 lumens for a low beam, whereas a HID bulb provides about 3200 lumens(5k -6K)
  • lower power requiements compared to halogen bulbs (35W use compared to 55/65W)
  • less heat generated than stock bulbs
Replace 55w halogens with 55w HIDs and the change is huge!

Great for winter riding in low light levels, or pick up a kit at the NEC on the globe buster stand.

Regards

Mick :thumb2

Hi Mick,
Good: fitting was straightforward enough & dip beam is now brilliant...:D

Bad: one lamp is dead (swapped ballasts, still dead) :(

How do we go on for a replacement lamp?

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian,

No worries and sorry about that I tested everything before I sent it, just send it back and ill send you a new one out as soon as more stock arrives this week. Heres the link for address details :- http://www.motorbikeadventures.co.uk/cms.php?id_cms=4

Best Regards

Hi Ian,

Yes, I guessed you would have, so I have been very careful to diagnose dead lamp, as I thought it more likely that I had cocked up the wiring or something:nenau

I fitted both lamps, dip was dead, so I swapped ballasts, dip was still dead. I swapped lamps & rewired, dip worked now. Tried dead lamp on both main & dip just hanging loosely, not a sausage... I guess it got a knock in transit or something.

No rush, will post back when I get a minute next week.

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian,

Just been into the garage to grab the "dead" lamp, when I noticed the RED-insulated spade connector on the BLACK wire... :blast

It works fine, when the polarity is correct! Now I feel more stupid than a stupid person who has just graduated from the university of stupid with a first-class degree in applied stupidity.:blush

Sorry for the false alarm.

Cheers,

Ian

HID a GSA

Just fitted a single HID unit to upgrade the dip beam and I can't be more impressed. The light levels and quality of light from Motorcycle Adventures Slim Unit is really impressive.
I will be ordering a second unit to upgrade the main in the very near future. I will also fit the H7R lamp unit to the dip to provide greater control of the light.

The kit supplied really was plug and play, fitted in about half an hour, quality kit at a very reasonable price.

Why aren't all bikes fitted with these quality light units from the factory ??

New stock of HIDs are now in! LED bulbs, CanBus HIDs with Anti Glare Bulbs, and upgrades for the fog lights on the BMW R1200GS Adventure. Not to mention the new CanBus units in for all RT's and GT's. :thumb2
