I know some of you have fitted Hid lights to your airheads, can you tell me/us your thoughts on them?

Did they work for you, or prove themselves to be a pain in the ...?

I'm thinking of fitting an H4 set to Jills 100GS. It now has the little 5" headlight set in an Acerbiss fairing (or at least it will have when I've finished it).

Are there any space issues with the sliding Hi/Lo bulb?

Seems fine to me. Fitted the a GS PD.
Dunno about space issues in the light unit, but I would have thought if it takes an H4 the HID replacement "should" fit.
I mounted the ballast above the coil on a 1.2mm sheet alloy bracket. I extended the wiring for the relay so it would mount in the space vacated by the old voltage regulator:

I also put some 280k mcs LED's under the light as a DRL... 'cos I had them:)

Yes, it's much better if you can use something like a Cibie unit, the pattern in a Bosch unit is not very good!

cheers,

They work fine and I recommend it :)

Hi Val,
can't speak for the Acerbis fairing, but I fitted one of Les's H4 HIDs to my PD, and the bulb fits in with no problems, and those little PD fairings are very crowded!
Works a treat, and nice to have both main and dip beams as HID.
I velcroe'd ( ?) the ballast and bits inside the fairing too, and not had a problem with it falling off. Les does some wiring "extensions" if you need to fit the ballast further from the bulb - but I expect you knew that .

Jill's bike sounded very sweet at the Wee Kend, and was good to meet up -here's to next year !
