I have a 35 watt ultra slim HID that I bought from Colbatch last year, that was working but now doesn't. The symptom is when I power up, for a slit second the bulb flashes blue in the middle and then nothing. Question is this a blown bulb or is the HID controller at fault? I don't have a spare bulb to try, but your thought would be welcome please.

Send it me and I will test it :thumb2

Used to have a similar thing on my 1150. Try switching on the ignition, three to for flashes of the ABS lights, start and then switch on the lights. Could be you battery????

Will warn you that the bulb failed 8 months later.

If the battery power is low it doesn't have enough juice to run the ABS check and kick the bulb into life at the same time. ABS takes priority and bulb fails to start :thumb

Of course if you have the numpty 1200 than you can't do this!!!!!

Get rid of your cheap 35w version and go for one of Les' 50 W outfits - what you should have done in the first place!

My HID failed after about 6 or 7 months. It suddebnly just went out, while I was riding home. Fortunately, not critical I just blinded everyone with the main beam to get home. Les did a jig, swapped the ballast which had failed, no questions asked. Can't ask fairer than that.

Exactly the same happened to me.

Took some advice from Les and checked things out by swopping stuff over. Turned out to be a faulty ballast.

Next day delivery of a new ballast, free of charge, from Les.

Excellent service from a top bloke :thumb2
