In order to make the bike as highly visible as possible, I've decided to add a pair of auxillary HID lamps. I thought that they needed to be spots, as fogs could be illegal for normal daytime running. I've found that a member of this parish is selling a pair of HID micro de fogs that were used as aux lamps. Has anybody any advice or pointers as to whether fogs are suitable for my purpose, or would I be better getting spotlights.

Thanks in anticipation.

1200HUN I have just fitted a pair of Les's HID conversion kit's to my 08 GSA Spots and they are a quality bit of kit which defo get you noticed. :beerjug:

I have just fitted a pair of Hella Micro DEs (not HID) purchased from Les and have definitely noticed that drivers see me more readily when filtering on the M4. The lights and the switch cost £92, whereas the HID versions cost a lot more. I did consider HIDing my dipped beam at the same time but couldn't run to the cost.

For me this was a good option as visibility to others rather than my ability to see (I don't have a great problem with this as most of my night time riding is in lit areas) was my main priority. If you're interested you can search my posts to see how I wired them.

Best regards

Nick

Hi Les

The more I learn, the less I know. Are you able to give me prices to help me decide?

Micro de spots/fogs as HID and standard. I'll assume the need for a light mounting bar in addition. Thanks

Ian

Thanks for your help

Thanks to everybody for the advice. I bought the HID fogs and also dip beam HID conversion, from Talonfs of this parish. I'm grateful for his invaluable help with the fitting. The bike can now be seen from space.
