HID50.com exclusive

i recentley acquired a full set of HID 50 ballasts etc for 1200gsa off flea bay.

I was struggling locating everything on the bracket under the beak. a couple of e mails to les and it was sorted.

Considering i did not purchase the kit from him he was under no obligation to help.

Cheers Les could not have managed without your help.

With regard the HID wow what a diffrence. just need to sort out the side light which looks very dull alongside the other four lights

Thanks Les

Quality of service.....

Some time ago Les provided me with all the required parts for fog lights on my 1150GS, as I my 1150 has morphed to a 1200GS, wanted to transfer my lights over to the new bike.

So spoke to Les and he provided me with info and parts required. So this weekend is a working weekend.....:D

Thanks Les for an excellent service......:thumb2

I ordered a plug and play kit for my 1200GS from Les and it was delivered very quickly indeed. I had a couple of issues installing it and the speed of reply of the support was fantastic. Thanks, Les.

Don't drive in the dark that often but in the deepest darkest of Essex last night (Looking for cast members of The Only Way is Essex) I managed to crack open all four of my HIDs. Wow! If and when we go to heaven this is what is would probably look like. Great kit highly recommended. :thumb

Didn't find any cast members. :(

Quite a few questions lately over H7R bulbs, the HiD50 kits have come with the H7R bulb for the dip beam as standard in the kit price now for the last 15 months, the H7R is only required for the dip beam, bit pointless on the high beam.

R bulbs are not needed for bikes that have lens pattern on the glass, eg 1150 GS the R bulb is more for the modern style lens that has the pattern in the reflector.

R bulbs just the same as normal HiD bulbs, you do not mix them with different watt ballasts.

HiD50 have stock of 35 watt and 50 watt R bulbs in 4300, 5 or 6K.

Also we now have the Ceramic Core R bulbs, thees are the ultimate HiD bulb as produced by Philips :thumb, RRP £75 each  but only a third of the price from us :D

Hi Les, I just took the old kit (55w dip and main slim ballasts) of my 2007 GSA. I want to fit them to my 2011 GSA - naturally I've lost the instructions. Could you send me some more or post a link please? Is fitting the same on the 2011, and finally, is there anything different or any new bits I need?

thanks,

Berin

changing to an RT

Hi Les, traded in my old GS and will be treating myself to an RT at Christmas (the £800 of free kit swayed it). I will be looking to come visit you soon after for a bit of "light" banter. Have you fitted HIDs to an RT yet and do you know of a good option to fit fogs that will look integrated like you did on my GS ?

My first impression after fitting one of these was that the kight appeared a bit "thin", and that the pattern from my normally vague 1200 GSA was just as vague, and appeared to be lower than before.

Then I double-checked the seating of the bulb :blast! The locating tab was just slightly out of position, as soon as I dropped it into place the whole experience was totally tranformed! I now have a spread of bright light, with clear and ( for a 1200GS) sharp cut off. The other good news is that I needed to slightly lower the beam height, which means that my high beam now mostly illuminates the road, as opposed to the tree tops.

I have previously used 35W and 50W HIDs, and whilst impressed at the brightness of the light, felt that they just helped to demonstrate how poorly the UK spec 1200GS headlight shaped, and directed, its beams.

For anyone that suffers from the frustration of trying to get a decent dipped and high beam pattern from the 1200GS I think this is a God-send.

Not that I believe in God, or that he would send me such a thing.

Thanks again Les:thumb2

Quick question for Les. My dipped light won't fire up when I turn the ignition on, but after riding a while it somehow springs to life. I thought it might be the battery a bit low not having enough to fire it up, but it is a virtually new battery and the same thing is happening - 15 miles or so it takes before the light comes on. The main beam springs to life immediately, OK takes the usual warm up time to reach full power, but it starts straight away.

Any ideas about the dipped one please?

As everyone else says, put these on your bike and it is like the parting of the Red Sea in front of you!

Check all the connections first, but you could also try swapping the ballasts over to see if the problem goes with it.

Thanks to Les

After a recent accident I trashed by auxillary lights and Les has supplied me with some nice new ones (DE this time not FF50) really quickly and helped me source some nice S/S guards so I have more chance of not trashing the surrounds if the worst were to happen again.

Thanks again, Les

Just if anyone wants one it, I have the internal bits of a FF50 fog if anyone needs it as a spare.
