HID for F800gs warning.

I fitted a pair of HID50 lights to my F800GS about a year ago but recently noticed that the light was not as good as at first. However when I inspected the reflector I noticed a large burn directly above the low beam bulb. Has anyone else had the same experience? Looks like I will have to replace the light fitting and revert back to halogens.
The F800 and F650 use a much smaller light fitting than the 1200 and I think the heat from the HID bulb may be too great for the plastic housing.

We do recommend the 35 watt due to the shallow depth of the lens, as we think this is the better option.

Had a slight burn mark on Madame's 800 from the HiD so switched to a 35w unit. Plenty bright enough.

The mark hasn't affected the light pattern in any way. Might re paint before the MOT but probably not an issue.

My New HID's..& thank you

Les

The new lights are fantastic - clearly good kit & expertly fitted to my pride & joy on a sunday too, so thanks v much.

The full beam now looks utterly shite, so will need to sort that out via yourself so a full HID compliment is had & everyone can see me a coming.

Very happy with them i took her out for a late night run ..
:JB
I could see the road .......
:rob

Fitted one of Les`s complete kits.....One thing to say..AWESOME.
Riding at night with my dark visor it looks like day light when the main beam is on.
Massive improvement of the orginal lights. Other road users really notice the bike coming towards them.
Thankyou Les very easy to install, fits and works excellent.

 riding at night with a dark visor. :nenau

Cover your ears children. Don't do it....:rob

:D :D :D

I'm just as guilty...at least the HiD lights help elumitate the darkness.

this may be not the right place but i have had a bit of a bad week
last Saturday at St Leonards in Hastings @ 13.00 my very good mate said goodbye to his girlfriend & jumped on his bike and rode up the shops
he approached a y junction and came to a stop to wait for the traffic to clear
he is not moving - just waiting
with that a 76 year old OAP came down the road in a silver VW golf turned into the road on the leg of the y
ON THE WRONG ****IN SIDE OFF THE ROAD :mcgun :mcgun
and hit him head on
SHE ****IN KILLED HIM
she said she didnt see him :mcgun :mcgun :mcgun
Les fitted my lights 2 x 50w and 2 x 35w in the spots over a year ago - i ride with the dipped and 2 spots on all the time and this combo has saved my life so many times
PLEASE everyone do somthing that will make you stand out from the rest
you really do not stand out very much with those standard lights - you just sometimes at a quick glance look like the
right or left side of a car with its lights on
most people i know always say how bright or how good my hid bulb are and how they always know its me cos my lights are so bright / different
which as you may have gathered is completly the opposite to what that OAP told the police
your life is worth a million times more than these lights - get them and if you are unsure how to fit them i am sure Les will do it or help
Take care
Gaz

Damn man.. I'm so sorry to hear that.. This is why I had bough HID Lights just so more people can see me.

Been having a chat with Les this past few days via email, and hopefully shall be getting one of his fine kits with 4300k bulbs for my GSA in a few days :JB

Have to say, very very helpful and cleared a few questions up for me no end, really can't complain at all! I can see why he has such a high reputation on here already without even having the kit yet too! Rawr! Roll on Tuesday/Wednesday all going well :hapybnce:

2010 R1200GS 35W, H7R, Canada

Unlike VVME standard ballast (One dead on arrival), other only worked on Hi-Beam plug, Les kit worked perfectly fine.
35W, 5000K, lo-beam only, love the light, don't see much blue in there!
Thanks Les.

This is just a quick endorsement of the excellent kit and good service I received last weekend.

For a couple of months now I had considered having HID’s fitted to my R1200GSA (09). I read the various threads on here and researched them on the web. I then decided send Les Wassall and email as I still had questions and sought his advice.

He was extremely prompt and gave genuine honest advice in his replies. As a result I opted for the Plug and Play one, 2 x 50 hids and 2 x35 hids for the fogs, all attached to the custom bracket, with the LED side light. I asked him with 2 days notice if he could fit them the following Saturday, he said he had the items in stock and said he would be available on the Saturday.

When I arrived there I noticed he had done his knee in the previous day and could hardly bend down. I said ok if you can’t fit them I understand as I could see he was in a lot of pain, he however knowing I had just ridden 200 miles said he could do it.

The bottom line is he did an absolutely first class job putting on top quality kit that all looks and works great. He also gave valuable advice on other bike issues; clearly his reputation is well earned.

Good job, get well soon mate.
