HID's

Thats a H4 bulb kit ... is that what the 1150 has? I thought the 1150 ran H1 bulbs.

Half a set does 1 bulb. As in the dipped beam. If you want to do both dipped and main beams, you want to go for a full set.

A full set at HIDs4u costs around £190, so half a set for £155 seems steep.

My personal prefernce for bulb temp is 5000 - 6000 K ... the kit in your link was a 6000k burner. Below 5000k has a yellowish tinge and above 6000k has a blueish tinge. 5000-6000k is what mst people perceive as "white light" (Camera flashes operate at 5500k and midday summer sunlight is normally between 5400 and 5800K depending on your latitude)

HID kit off ebay is £80 including postage. That will do Hi and low beam!!!! I run 4700k and they are very white, not yellow at all. Lumen output is much higher with 4700k kit and whilst it is less blue, it will illuminate the road far more.

Have a search on ebay for the best deal. As long as the seller has good feedback there should be no problem. :thumb

I had FF spots etc a couple years ago.

Fitted an HID spot light, and it showed just how "normal" the FF spots were. The one small spot easily outshone and lit up the road far better than 2 FF50 spots.
Also mounted on the side up by the screen, so it's out of harms way when/if you fall off road, or on road, no damage to the light.

With my spotlight, the HID ballast fits into the main frame. The mounting studs come through the holes that are in the frame.

Been off road, across desert, upside down and on it's side many times, and the unit still works superbly.

The ballast in place.

The mounting bolts

The space in the frame where it mounts.

The spot light.

Thanks for that Neil, you have shown me where ballast No.2 can be fitted! It looks like the same as the kits Flipfly and I have fitted. Cheers :thumb
