In a moment of weakness I've started considering a (almost certainly pre-loved) 1300GS as an alternative to having a garage full of different bikes*

I always like a very sit up riding position but am not equipped with the longest of arms so was wondering if anyone knows about the high handle bars as listed as a £120 option in the configurator? The configurator doesn't say how much higher or back they go, only that they go up and back.

Yes, I know I could use risers (I have them on my r9T) but prefer higher bars if possible. I've not seen any bikes listed as having them, nor can I find a part number etc

Anyone got them or even just seen them in the wild?

*this is clearly a lie as I'll likely not reduce the number, but ideally this time not add to the number. At least that's what I tell myself.

I had them as option but they didn’t make any difference to me so I added the risers as well. They say they are slightly higher and slightly raked back but to be honest I could not even notice it. The risers I added were the high ones and with no bend backwards

I found a part number, but I think it may be specific (and different?) for the GS Adventure. It is
32718828767

I then asked AI. This is the response:

The
BMW Motorrad High Handlebars
(Part No.
32718828767
) are 3/4 inch (approx. 19 mm) higher than the standard handlebars. They are specifically designed for the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure (2024–2026 models) to provide a more ergonomic and upright riding position, especially when standing.

Rider Feedback
Reviewers and users in enthusiast communities, such as those on Facebook's BMW R1300GS group, have noted several benefits of the high handlebar compared to standard setups:
  • Standing Control: Users report that the extra height provides significantly better control and safety when riding off-road in a standing position.
  • Ergonomics: For long-distance touring, the more relaxed position reduces fatigue in the arms and hands.

Take all that with the usual pinch of salt.

Obviously, buying a used R1300GS equipped with the factory high bars will be like looking for the proverbial in a haystack.

Personally, I have the Wunderlich up and back risers, and they have made a comfortable bike even more comfortable. As a bonus they integrate quite well into the bike.

I like an upright position , i can ride longer with by bad back. I put up and back risers plus one of the enduro pack risers and it's spot-on for me (5'10.5")

Horrible things took them off - the bars are also a nasty flat shape - in use feels like the ends are turned up providing an unnatural riding position to my older GS

and you get three set of risers if you order the enduro model

Ya, those up and back are pretty sweet. Wifey has them on her XR and made a huge difference on her riding position, much more up right instead of over the bars.

I'm 5'7 and I actually went the other way around on my GS... I removed all the risers (enduro package) and without any, I'm much more comfortable.

You took the risers off or the bars off?

the massive stack of crap giving a stupid riding postion

Same here.
