High-Low Tossers?

Hello “Tossers”…
I am struggling with seat height issues. Please help advise and piss take!
I have a SHAD aftermarket seat on my 1150GSA and I am struggling being on tiptoes with on bike maneuvers…
I think it is higher than the stock OEM from previous experiences … my last 1150GSA didn’t feel so tall… have my legs have shrunk in 8 years!?
Do I order a Sargent standard seat height which they claim is lower than OEM or opt for the flat footed certainty with a low seat option?
Am 64, no spring chicken, 90Kg … 5’11” with 33” inside leg.
Your personal experience and advice is greatly appreciated… :rob
Thank you in advance …:beerjug:

All BMW’s R1150 GS Adv OEM seats are made by Shad, irrespective of whether they are high or low versions

I have a Sargent normal height on my GSA and I don’t think it’s any lower than the stock normal height Shad BMW seat

Lowest seat out there is a Corbin GSA seat

Best thing is swap your suspension (and stands) for GS ones
Makes the bike 2” lower

I didn’t really want to lower the suspension as I wanted the bike’s ride height, ground clearance to remain …
Just want a slightly lower seat … so is my SHAD which is black OEM? Thought that it was grey and red as stock on a silver 1150 GSA?

Get some boots with the built up sole on them. :thumb2
Or put more weight on and squash the suspension down more. :D
I have a Corbin seat on my 1150 and it’s superb.

Yes it is, not aftermarket

BMW 1150 GSA seats are all made by SHAD

Plain Black/Red & Grey/Black & Yellow seat covers..............in normal height options are SHAD

All BMW low GSA 1150 seats are black and also made by SHAD

Different seat altogether, than the OP is enquiring about and a totally different rear rack system

Panniers look good though:P

You have a GS … with comfy single … I’m enquiring about a dual GSA seat that needs to be low
You can fit a pair of Corbin seats in place of the long single one on the GSA. I also have the rear Corbin in my storage unit. They are definitely lower than the standard seat plus the sides are more sculpted so you can get your legs closer to the sides of the bike therefore “ lower” too.

Corbin also do a one piece 1150 GSA seat which is considerably lower than any other GSA seat

1st pic is with a standard height Sargent seat

Pics 2 & 3 are with a Corbin GSA seat (one type as they don't do a high or low version)

Don't understand this. With a lower seat and a 33 inside leg, won't it be a horribly cramped riding position, even if you fit lower footpegs?

What do you need massive ground clearance for - I think I've only hit my sump guard a couple of times in many thousands of miles two up on gravel roads and if you are touching the cylinder heads down in corners then you need a Panigale.

Shorter suspension with the correct springs for your weight (front and rear so it doesn't steer like an oil tanker) has to be the answer, or getting more to grips with not needing to put both feet down all the time. Those Yank bucket seats are goppin' ugly too.

Agreed
I have one GSA with GS size/length Ohlins (and the correct GS stands)
And another GSA with GSA Ohlins

The lower bike is just as good to ride
