Whilst I love Bertha, I can't help thinking she'd look better with a high mudguard.

Anyone know where to get one in black and which make/model looks and fits best?

I fitted some aftermarket ( from Eblag ) mudguards to a Siebenrock special I built a few years ago...looked a little more modern. Underneath the lower yoke are four 5mm tapped bolt holes and the OE mudguard simply bolts underneath it - and ensure the wiring harness is loose when the mudguard is tightened up.( You have to measure twice/drill once etc with the aftermarket one as they are blanks etc).

Seeing as yours isn't standard maybe this is the way to go with a more angular modern look :nenau

Next time your heading up to VND projects on it, let me know :thumb2

If you buy the Acerbis one, make sure you mount it far enough forward to miss the oil cooler (hi position) DAMHIK:blast

Well he never said he was fitting an oil cooler as well :rob ( never did trust him or his dad :augie)

And don't tell me this fitting 'mistake' was done at the Wee-Kend..surely not !!

I knew I should have been there :beerjug:

I like that Kenny, any idea of the make?

I don't think Bertha has an Oil cooler, I better check now :blast:blast:blast

Yep, we didn't have the new cooler by then so it was built with a bodged bypass loop, worked well and didn't leak.
Since then i've fitted the new cooler with new bolts and washers and it pisses oil like BP's finest:blast

Still it passed it's MOT this morning and it does feel great to ride it again, I'm sure the oil will stop leaking soon :D

You could try

+1 for the Acerbis :thumb2

http://www.acerbistore.it/product.aspx?ID=1767&C=87&L=2 Cost about £15.00

I fitted one to Jill's 100, also fitted an ali guard stay/support (mostly because I liked the look :augie).

I made a template out of card, which made it much easier to locate the holes correctly.

I would try a second hand one off fleabay
I also like the look but they aint that practical
they catch the air and make the bike weave at high speed
They are like Izal toilet paper as they don't take any shit off !!!!!
Just my point of view if course

Izal could only be remembered in the Airhead section :D We couldn't afford the roll so made do with a quick wipe of the Liverpool Echo then a skim with a single sheet ( two on a Sunday :augie ) of Izal to finish off !!

We used to have it in our primary school. Twas an absolute waste of time, but it was medicated to make ya shitty bum smell a little less until ya got home.

I was on a campsite in north devon a week ago and you had the choise of nice soft paper or seperate squares of Izal. Somebody must like it.

On the bike front, Bertha does not have an oil cooler and also she is a later model than kenny's so there is no wiring loom to look out for when fitting a high mudguard.

I fitted a Polisport one to the LegoBike.
Acerbis are high quality and nice and thick but pricey.
Polisport come in pretty much the same styles and colours...also UFO ones.

You won`t get 'high speed' weaving or flopping about if you fit a fender brace.
Easily made yerself or bought from MX shops.

Izal? The rough side for wiping and the smooth side for polishing. Takes me back...Wooden loo seats in an out side bog shared with the neighbours. Me grandad spending ages cutting the newspapers into squares and sticking them on a nail in the loo.

When I enquired about a MUDguard, I wasn't expecting a conversation about loo paper. I really should choose my words more carefully :D:D

F-Me! how much are the Polisports guards then? I only paid £15.00 for a new Acerbis nord last year :nenau

You got a good deal there mate.

Maybe prices have dropped lately but when I bought an Acerbis shortie supermoto front mudguard for my XLV750R it was £24.
The bigger guards were almost silly prices.

Polisport/UFO are...or were....typically half or less the Acerbis prices.

Tarka can peel an orange in his pocket !! :augie

Naturally the retail price of things are irrelevent to a thieving Scouse Git.
It`s only the post aquisitional 'street price' or 'pub price' that matters. :augie
