I have a super pro duo autocom wired to aux socket under seat.
and garmin 660 wired to canbus plug under beak.
whilst riding i get a high pitched whine. i have read about isolators.
which part number do i need. i dont intend to use the phone with it, just the zumo 660

Go to Chainspeed's website and see what's listed for that setup. If nothing is call them, they will know instantly what you need (I called today for a lead to connect my Alan 456 to my Autocom).

I've got the same setup but with a zumo 550, although its not loud enough to be a problem - noise increases with engine revs, dies for a second during gear changes.
I think you need an isolator module if you use the Sat Nav audible/music with bike power, I just use the phone so not worth it .

Hi Oly, is the 660 hard wired or bluetoothed to the autocom? Is the whine present all the time? Mick

the zumo is hardwired tot he autocom. I dont have a phone connected.
The whine is there all the time whilst the engine is running,
it does not rise and fall in pitch with the engine, instead is a constant pitch.
i have the zumo hardwired to the canbus socket under the beak and the autocom to the negative battery terminal/aux socket under seat.
radio is in the top box.
regards

Hi Oly, that all sounds good! the autocom special GPS isoiation adaptor you need is the 2190 works with both 550 and 660. Autocom have just released a newer version of this called the 4066. try that and see how things go! The only other advice is 1) dont coil the excess leads up to much or too tight 2) re sight the main autocom unit 'just because it could be near a wire that transmits the whine. :thumb

Mick

thanks mick,
Should i go for the newer version of the isolator, or does it not matter?
