Higher wattage bulbs

Now the nights are drawing in I have discovered how poor the std power bulbs are (dip and main beam).

Is it possible to fit 80w or even 100w H7 bulbs (i know they're illegal.....) - will the wiring loom/switchgear/CANBUS take it or will I suffer a meltdown?

I'm not fussed about the complication of converting to HID.

Any recommendations?

do you need extra watts or extra lumens per watt?

I haven't tried them myself as I do few night-time miles outside of the urban sprawl of S.Wales.

Not a fan of the higher watt bulbs have seen some nasty burnt out wires, HiD is the way to go

HID...you know it makes sense. Higher wattage bulbs are a waste of time and can apparently damage your headlight unit. Good luck with finding a new one that doesn't cost the earth. HID fitment is fully reversible and I have had no damage in 3 years.

Two of us put Osram Night Racer bulbs in, 2 for £36... much brighter, BUT my mates bulb went one day and mine the next, both 3000 miles, we put the spares in and in exactly 3000 miles they both blew again. Osram said the cause was a surge in the electrics and the bikes to blame, Bollox, both bikes blowing bulbs together at same mileage......don't buy Osram

I’m running Philips Premium +30% bulbs, they have been in some while now, not expensive and do seem better than standard bulbs.
The other option might be Philips VisionPlus +50% a bit brighter, a little more money

i agree.... i dont know anyone got 80w or 100w that kind of high wattage headlights in fog lights.....

i am afraid even the 55w hid might melt the housing and destroy the bubls....

Fitted a HID50 kit from Les- easy took 30 mins! and spotlight kit form "howmuch" - am now frying the retnas of any car that crosses my path!!


And i can see sooooo much better!!
recomend HID50.
