I have come across this today - seems like remarkable value for money! I've not seen/used one yet. But certainly tempted to get one at that price.

It gets a great write up in the Trail Mag/LFTO article. I'd like to try one out...a bit more wight in the mat but a bit less weight in the sleeping bag sort of balances.

If the R value is correct then that’s a good price. :thumb2

Saying that, you can massively increase the R value of any airbed by placing a paper thin ( and extremely light ) sheet of reflective silver sheet. Like the material that those thin heat blankets the emergency services use to warm people up.
Simply cut it to the size of your sleeping mat and place it underneath with the silver heat reflective side down. That reflects and cold back into the ground.
I’ve done / do it and it definitely works. :thumb2

I'd think the sheet should work a lot better silver side up as what your trying to do is reflect the radiant heat from the mat back towards you. There is no energy coming up from the ground (it's going the other way... From hot to cold) so nothing to reflect of you put it silver side down.

No, quite the opposite. You need to reflect the cold back down.
If you do it the other way the cold can get through. You’re constantly trying to keep warm then as opposed to not getting cold in the first place. Sounds funny but it definitely works.

i saw a good video on this yesterday, about the different ways you get cold & how to keep warm in those situations.

Ive got one albeit the primaloft version. It’s brilliant very comfortable and don’t feel any cold coming through.

Fair enough but you are rewriting the 2nd law of thermodynamics 👍🏻

I know it sounds wrong but you need to stop the cold getting through to you.
I’ve tried it both ways camping in freezing conditions and it definitely makes a big difference.

The reflective sheet will be more effective placed directly under your sleeping bag, on top of the shite air mattress. That way you're not loosing heat to the dead, cold air in the mat, then to atmosphere.

No shite air mattresses with me!
My main bike / car camping airbed is an Exped MegaMat 10. :D
The other 3 I have are equally good. :thumb2
The silver reflective sheet still works.

All I will say is you cannot "reflect cold". It's a physical impossibility. All you can do is try to reflect heat towards it's source, ie you. Unless you want to rewrite the laws thermodynamics. I have no doubt that putting a thing film helped you out, just saying if you flipped it around the other way it would help more.
