I had my bike serviced (24K) by Brian Giles recently. Brian used to work at C&L in Tunbridge Wells before they stopped doing BMW bikes. Brian has now set up for himself under the name of BGM.

Brian has a wealth of knowledge and did a really good job, telling me what needed doing, why it needed doing and what the cost was, he also told me what we could leave until the next service – His coffee isn’t bad either.

Brian is based in Pembury just off the A21 in Kent. If you want to make use of his services then you can contact him on Tel: 01892 823514 Mobile: 07850 438405 or email him on [email protected]

Yep, I can vouch for that. So far only used him for throttle body balance but while we were chatting he also gave the bike a thorough check over and at the end of it all charged next to nothing. Tidy workshop (a good sign) and gave the impression he new what he was talking about.

I had no response from my email either. But this is the only thing I could fault him on.

He did the 66,000 miler plus an annual on my bike yesterday. It certainly cost more than a pittance, but we spent time discussing exactly what needed to be done, and what it would cost, and the final bill was exactly what he had quoted (a first for me).

He spent time the day before trying to talk me through jump starting procedures via the phone - the fact they failed is entirely down to my incompetence.

He warned me at least twice (do I look stupid?) that his loan bike had a sidestand cut out on it (I know, so does my Yamaha, so did my K75S), then when I rang up to yell at him that his stupid bike wouldn't start, he very politely asked if the sidestand was down (Doh).

When he talked about 'Camshaft Followers' I must have let it show that I wasnt sure whether 'Camshaft' were a pop group, or whether he had really said 'CamFast' and it was some new diet fad thing, 'cause he promptly proceded to show me one, and generally explain what it did, and how it did it.

He refitted the hand guards (reckons they were wrongly fitted from new - this is a bike that has had 11 main dealer services, from 3 different main dealers), refitted all my dodgy additional wiring corrrectly when replacing the battery, and best of all, changed the clock (which had been an hour out).

He is getting my business for the foresable future.
