While touring Ireland on my R1100GS (July '03) it became difficult to turn over, even with a new battery. I telephoned the only BMW dealer I could find listed, Maddocks BMW. Not only did they agree to look at the bike that day, they did so immediately on our arrival, and very quickly diagnosed a fault with the starter motor bearings. Not having a spare on the shelf, they wheeled a brand new GS out of the showroom and transplanted the starter into my bike ! All done in less than 90 min's.

The downside was the price in Euro's, but what the hell, they saved my holiday and I would recommend them to anyone. Pity they are about 20 miles south of Dublin !

I've no idea what Maddocks are like as a dealer, but I have met Paddy a couple of times on MCi tours in the last 2 years, and he came across as a pleasant enough bloke to me.
