Hilltop Group Buy

I have my '13 plate S10 booked in for the 4th September at 09:00hrs. Any one recommend a decent hotel or B&B locally to Hilltop, I don't fancy getting up at 03:00 for a five hour plus stops trip.:D

Ask Geoff about the Thai pub over the road!:D

Engineer needs to get a life does he actually ride his bike or argue on here all day everyday what a sad man

If you don't like what someone says you can just ignore them. No need really to go down the offensive language route. When I was growing up my dad taught me that when people start to swear and round in on someone they had lost the argument. I expect he had more confrontational issues than a lot of people do in life so guess he was speaking from experience. This site is well known for attacking its own site members, this thread is just adding fuel to the fire which is a shame because if you can see the wood through the tree's there is some excellent stuff on here and helpful people.

I would like my bike Hilltopped and it will be getting Hilltopped at some point, but would also like to know roughly what has been done to it just out of curiosity. I did send Geoff an email, not asking about what he does, just not to waste his time on the phone when he may be busy. He replied quite quickly asking me to phone as it would be easier for him so I will do that soon.

I had my bike done a few years ago and while I was there had a very interesting chat about what he does (and lots more besides - he likes to chat!). Some of it went over my head to be honest but he was far from secretive. Going back in a couple of weeks with another bike :thumb2

Your are right, the insults and abuse are typical of Internet forums, totally unecessary but perhaps it brings out people's true character, which is a good thing!

When I purchase anything technical I like the most detailed specification possible - it seems like the re-mapping business either can't or is unwilling to provide this information, let the buyer decide for themselves. Geoffs 'clue' tells me only part of the story but it tells me enough that I would not do a re-map on a new bike or a bike under warranty, however I would definitely try it on an older bike out of curiosity.

I typically do about 1,000 miles each month and have done on each of my 4 1200s since 2005 :D

If that is the reason you're wanting to know all the nitty gritty then I think you're barking up a tree you don't need to. We all make those decisions about upgrading a bike in warranty whenever we do any mod to it. Same with adding open headers, Akra cans, suspension mods, additional lighting etc etc etc. You don't need to know anything about how a remap works to make those decisions - you can do that yourself based on limited knowledge. Its the same decision you have to make when asked "do you tell your insurer?" I've made both of those decisions without any technical knowledge whatsoever - its common sense. There's also plenty of threads on the insurance issue you should you care to look - you can then try phoning all the insurance companies asking for their technical knowledge on whether a remap counts as a performance enhancement or not. Post up your findings on here.

We all make our decisions based upon different criteria, some like to take more risk than others - there is no one right way of making a decision without all the facts being present - we all take chances otherwise we couldn't function.

I am not interested in the insurance question because there is nothing to learn there, you are obliged to tell them of any changes you make otherwise you could be in breach of contract - every bike insurance contract that I have read says this quite clearly.

Agreed. So would you also agree then, that the question relating to a remap and a warranty (your question it seems) is a very similar and simple question to answer without need for technical information as to how a remap works?

This is a different question, I am just saying that I would not take the risk of making a complete change to the engine management system on a new bike that was within warranty for obvious reasons, I am not going to bother asking BMW if they would still warrant a bike after I had made such changes - if I could be arsed to read it all I bet that the answer is buried in their warranty terms somewhere and I can reasonably guess the answer!

Then it seems you have in fact answered your own question without recourse to any further information regarding how a Hilltop remap works. So, having squared that one away, can we move on please and avoid any more endless questioning looking for answers you don't need let alone have any likelihood of getting.

I refer the honourable gentleman to my statement in my post #126, that is my position.

Which bit, the insults & abuse part or the fact you won't remap a bike in warranty? If the latter then I think we've already dealt with that. If the former, are you suggesting I've insulted and/or abused you?

:banghead: Fuck me Betty

"Flies all green and buzzin'
In this dungeon of despair
Prisoners grumble and piss their clothes
And scratch their matted hair
A tiny light from a window-hole
A hundred yards away
Is all they ever get to know
About the regular light in the day

And it stinks so bad the stones been chokin'
Weepin' greenish drops
In the room where the giant fire puffer works
And the torture never stops
The torture never stops "

:rob

I was hoping that it meant that even he had got fed up with his line of trolling.

Please don't extinguish that faint light of hope at the end of this tunnel...

Will Engineer be producing a 'ride report' when he leaves his house to go to the open day. Will he post photos? What sandwiches will he pack?
