Hi All,
On my Euro 4 Himalayan the ABS warning light stays on while riding, does not flash.
There are no other warning lights once the engine is running.
The fuses are all OK.
Not ridden for about 3 weeks prior to this, battery was fully discharged as I forgot to trickle charge if after a week or so as I have done from new and the battery has never been flat before. The problems started a few days later, could this be related or a co-incidence ? Battery the day following a ride is at 12.4 to 12.6V. Wonder if a new battery may cure it (BMW K1100 style).
I have removed and cleaned the wheel sensors and the ABS rings are in fine fettle.
This caused the light to go out for 30 miles before a cafe stop, then it came on again on the way home and stayed on since.

Has anyone else had this issue ?
How do I view a fault code for this if present ?
I gather some sequential button pressing may allow this without a fault code reader, but not too clear on this.
As the wiring is often tightly gripped by factory cable ties could there be a fracture in the wheel sensor cables ?
Not sure of the set-up, is it simply wheel sensor cables to a control unit which informs the ECU ?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi all,

Brand new fully charged battery.
No fault codes from ECU so I guess a separate system.
All fuses OK.
Cleaned ABS wheel sensors again.
All relays renewed recently.
Still got the issue, ABS light on when engine runs, does not flash.
Have not tried to get ABS to kick in so don't know if it is actually working.
Thinking it could be ABS control unit or a loose connection somewhere between it and a wheel sensor.
Anyone else had a similar problem and know of any other cause ?
Happy new year, ride safe.

Cheers

Not exactly the same, but may be useful... I once tried to start my Interceptor 650 after having taken the tank off and forgetting to refit to fuel pump connector. This generated an engine fault light trigger and, although the bike ran fine after I reconnected in the plug, the light remained on. It had to be turned off (for free) by a dealer.

The point being that, whatever has generated it, it's quite likely that it could've been a transient fault (like the flat battery) that is now fixed. However, the light may remain on until reset. Of course, the fact that you have looked for fault codes suggests you might have already tried to reset...

Quiet safe road about 25 mph stomp on the rear brake pedal and you'll soon find out if its functioning - I would guess not.
Take it for proper diagnostics.

Front wheel sensor - follow cable up to under the dash/clocks - find the plug/socket it may have come apart/loose - can be caused as you said about the factory cable ties too tight - happened to mine 2019!
