HIMALAYAN, FIRST THOUGHTS...

Love the enthusiasm. I rate my E4 very highly. Yes it could be better but value and enjoyment are exceptional with this motorcycle in my view.

Couldn’t help notice that, when discussing the tweaks you had done to the oil cooler pipe, you got oil on your fingers (at 12.09 in first video).

What leaked?

I like my Mk1 Himmie. Save for the cramped seating position for someone of my height/inside leg, it was a great bike.

I thought it was oil too, but it was where I’d sprayed the bike with WD40..

OK - had me (and you?) worried for a 'mo!

My oil line rests on the engine bolt, good tip to get the oil and line hot before tweaking it.

Yes definitely. I think it’s a good bike to be honest, just a few tweaks and it could be better!

I think if you just get on it and ride it you’re asking for trouble, I mean what can you expect brand new for 4K nowadays!

Yes I wiped the oil cooler over and thought it was oil leaking where I’d tweaked the pipe, definitely a ‘head in hands’ moment there for a few seconds!!

Ive had my Himalayan since Jan 2020. Its only got 7500 miles on it but i absolutely love it. Im lucky enough to have a 1250 GSA and an XJR1300 but if i want a little chilled bimble on the back roads the Himi never fails to deliver. But thats not the only trick up its sleeve. Just after getting it i strapped a tent and a load of stuff to it, rode it 300 miles on back roads to Sweetlamb. Had 3 great days riding offroad with Nathan Millwards Himalayan odyssey. Put all my stuff back on it and rode home.
Last year i did similar to Devon. The Himalayan encourages me to take the slower road to where im going. Itll do 55-65 all day long, is surprisingly nimble on twisty roads and sips fuel.

There’s a few bits that are showing age, spokes and flaking paint on the forks but to be fair that’s my fault.
My first GS had bubbling paint on the engine cases at 18 months old and that was mollycoddled.

If space aliens were to abduct my bikes, the only one id have no doubt about replacing with the same again is the little RE.IMG_0893.jpeg
