I'm currently looking at buying either the Litelok X3 or the Hiplok DX1000 to help secure my R1250GSA. Does anyone actually have the Hiplok DX1000 and if so does it fit through both sides of the front wheel hub like the Litelok X3 does. Online i can only find the internal locking dimensions of the Hiplok but nothing regarding the actual dimensions of the shackle tubing (i know its quit square in profile). Any opinions regarding personal use of either lock would be greatly received.

Hiplock is too tight due to the neoprene stuff.

I have seen a few pictures on some FB groups of it on a GSA and it does not appear to fit all the way through, as it is quite short.

Yes mine does but it's snug fit, you can remove the covering and use tape or suck like. It will also go through the caliper supporting casting on the front fork leg and through the wheel hub holes. You have to get the holes in the hub positioned to allow one of the arms to go through, at an angle downwards. The angle is very important. The internal length dimension of the lock are just long enough to allow this and get the locking part on. All of these Liteloks X1/3 & Hiplok D & DX locks need to be about 25 - 50mm longer.

The Hiplok DX1000 -- ive bought one last week but they are on pre order-ill let you know if it fits.

PRE-ORDER: Expected May 24

I have an R1250GS with alloy wheels and have no such problem with my Litelok X3, it easily fits through the holes in both discs on the front fork leg with about 4cm to spare, don't have to angle downwards or suchlike at all. I can see your point though if you have spoked wheels, and can understand that that's an issue.

Overall though, I'm very happy with my Litelok X3, well made and has a very high quality lock as well. So impressed with it that I bought a second Litelok to complement it for fitting to the rear wheel to stop it being wheeled away by the front wheel being lifted off the ground (which apparently can happen) so with both wheels immobilised that hopefully will act as a deterrent.

Jury is out for me on the hiplok DX1000, for £299 its a bit of a shocker cost wise, fit is a little tight .
Not sure if im gunna stick with it as a front wheel D lock it's heavy and I'm not sure how it will effect the spokes as the weight is leaning on one of them, probably best suited to a cast wheel IMHO
No where near fitting the rear wheel.
already have a BMW disk lock and a monster lock and chain but was looking for a portable one for a trip but as I said, Jury is out. it might be heading my sons way as he's taking 2 mountain bikes racing next month.

Hi Zoton
That’s interesting, I’ve got one on order & expecting delivery next week.
Would you mind taking a photo from side on?
In your opinion, how thick is the neoprene/rubber around the D lock.
I’ve removed the covering on other locks & applied the BMW automotive felt tape instead..
Like you, I was hoping it would go through the rear some how & I’ve got off road tyres on!

I’ve been keeping a watch on these products and I particularly like the Hiplok DX1000. I like it’s resilience, because if someone does actually manage to cut through one side of the lock it can’t then be rotated because of its square/rectangular section, it means the second side would need to be cut through which, from what I’ve seen, is not an easy task.

The thing that puzzles me, is that the product is brand new and has obviously undergone some sort of market research (did they?), yet it’s already receiving negative feedback due it not fitting the rear wheels of some motorcycles! It’s clearly a proper piece of kit and does a great job of resisting angle grinders with the intention of protecting those prized items people will not want the scumbags to help themselves to. It needs to fit somewhere other than just the front wheel!

I would have bought one but think I’ll hang fire for now and see what unfolds. I’d like to see them make a chain out of the stuff

The rubber seems to be approx quite thick, im probably going to cut it through and remove, re paint and cover with helicopter tape. Not sure if there is some sort of weave in between the rubbers, going to look through the Bennetts bike social video when ive got time and check before I remove it but if ok seems the way go go.

Appreciate that Zoton,
Very helpful, should get mine tomorrow.
I’ve just looked at the Bennett’s video, he does say it can make the lock rattle if the rubber is removed but that’s what I shall be doing.
I’ll then cover it in the automotive felt tape.

Rubber removed, fits great now, shame they don't make a wider version but cut and shut was the only option for fit, rubber serves no purpose other than protection , easily removed with a leatherman knife , metal wrapped with helicopter tape I had spare, doesn't look to ridiculous and still has the integrity of the U lock.

Hi Zoton

Thanks for the update, been promised delivery coming Saturday.
Have to agree on your earlier comment, it is a shame the lock is not another couple of inch’s in length, but with the rubber removed it should be easier to attach and remove.

The scrotes just use skate boards front and rear lift the bike and off they go !

Have just received my Litelok X3. For those who may be interested here are a couple of photos to show that it does fit through the rear wheel and the gap in the shaft drive housing. By having the lock on the exhaust side (2022 1250GSA) and the lock at the bottom it makes trying to pick it that much harder.

I knew it wouldn’t fit through the front disk but I have a Roadlok and an Abus alarmed disk lock for that.
