Hiring a guide with a 4x4 in Morocco

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading Tim Cullis' amazing Knowledge base post which is very informative and has already helped me plan my trip.

We are planning to hire some bikes (XRs and XTs) in Marrakesh in a couple of weeks and go on an 8 days trip south with the following as a rough itinerary:
MARRAKECH>OUARZAZATE>M'HAMID>TISSINT>ASSA>Tafnidilt>Tiznit > Agadir > Marrakesh

There are people in our group that have done this itinerary before and our original plan was to hire bikes and a 4x4 and alternate at the wheel.

However we are now thinking it may be worth hiring a guide to follow us with a 4x4, that way we all get to ride on bikes and we would get the benefit of having a guide with us.

Does anyone know or could suggest a guide, or where to find one, that would be able to do something like this?
What is the going daily rate for something like this?

One of Peter's 4x4s is a pick up which would give you additional support should you need it. He can equip your lead bike with a 'follow the highlighted route' GPS so you can ride ahead and not get lost.

Peter also has three TTR 600 and one KTM 640 for hire.

Hi guys,

Thanks a lot for the info. I just spoke to Peter and he seemed like a very reasonable person. Unfortunately his daily rate is too expensive for us to hire him for 8 days.

We may hire him for just a few days, otherwise do you have any other suggestions on other guides that are around the 100euro mark as a daily rate?

You don't need a guide for the tarmac stuff and where there is no tarmac there will be an enterprising chap with a 4x4. Just hire locally where you think you will need somebody.
