His and Her's textile suits for a GS

KLIM gear. At least the mens and womans kit are not the same colour.

Thanks, I'm popping into J&S too to see what they've got before dragging SWMBO around with me. They do Klim and Rukka, as well as less expensive stuff so between them and my dealer we shoukd find something suitable.

Unless SWMBO rides everywhere, in all weather conditions with you, then why bother?

Buy the best/most comfortable jacket for you and then likewise for her. If you ride all year round and she only comes out on occasional sunny days then a Rukka for you and something cheaper for her. The cheaper her clobber the more you can spend on yourself :D

I bought a pair of black Tour-X's about 8 years ago and SWMBO's lid has been worn four times. A complete waste of money :blast

Cheers, That's the sort of logic I can buy into. The idea is in recognition of me going on loads of beach holidays in tbe past which I don't like SWMBO will come touring with me on the bike, so I need some decent kit for her otherwise she'll throw in the towel and refuse to go.

Yeah I'm not sure if your wife is like mine, but you sitting on the bike warm, comfortable and dry in your Rukka outfit whilst your wife is in lesser gear, getting wet aint gonna go down well :D If you can stretch to the Rukka, its worth it knowing you have a decent outfit for 6 years (thats the warranty cover). I've found cheaper jackets in the sub £200 bracket a false economy as they fall apart after a year and aren't that waterproof.

for what its worth, i have a cosmic jacket and trousers. Its fantastic in all weather up to about 22 - 25 degrees, where its jut too hot and poorly ventilated. This summer i came pretty close to getting a BMW rallye outfit, with all those nice vents and removable goretex liner. I was sweating my tits off riding into London in the rukka gear and opted for kevlar jeans and the jacket wide open above the waste strap. As soon as late summer / autumn comes, its perfect.

That said, my outfit isn't perfect, the front zip lets water through easily so you must have the second inner zip done up for it to be waterproof, right cuff zip is knackered stitching has come undone on some seams. So the usual crap you get with other stuff, but your paying for that warranty and i just need to send mine back for repair. The laminated goretex is floor less though, completely waterproof.

Try Klim gear, it really is superb. I just got an Apex jacket and Latitude trousers, it's a laminate shell so doesn't soak up the water, it's completely waterproof and really well vented for the summer, proper 4 season clothing :thumb

Tourshell - saw an Italian couple on a GS in France in matching Tourshell suits, somehow they managed to look uber cool, whereas the Brit bikers who stopped at the service station looked like a bunch of scruffy pikies.

PS I have Tourshell suit, she wears her short Dianese black leather jacket and Hornee jeans, she is too small to wear bulky textile stuff (I think she is just too vain).

Agreed - loving m Klim gear

Or Hein Gericke even though the colours are a bit dull. Their website is back up and running!

Watch out for Rukka gear. I bought a full price armas suit from J&S earlier this year and the goretex lockout zip failed after 8 days. Luckily got a replacement jacket but a month or so ago he inside of the leg seam came apart and the ceramic coating in one of knees started to fall off. Many phone calls, visits and threat of a solicitor later the repaired trousers came back with a nice burned hole in the bottom of the leg. Rukka said get lost, not our fault. Luckily after further wrangles the distributor sprang to a new pair. The material and technologies might be great but I'm not impressed with the the quality of manufacture. The 6 year warranty is completely irrelevant as UK consumer law covers you for manufacturing faults for the same period. Save yourself the money and get something 90% as good for 60% of the price or less.

That's not luck, that's what they call warranty

Who did you have to threaten?

Does it really or did you just make that bit up?

Rukka jackets & trousers are covered by a manufacturers warranty for 5 years only. The 6th year warranty is with Tran Am (the UK Importers) and is only applicable if you purchased the item through an official UK Dealer and that you register the product on-line on the Tran Am web-site

I don't understand how UK Consumer Law can give you a 6 year warranty on something the manufacturer only warranties for 5

Surely, if that were the case, then extended warranties policies on all sorts of items sold in the UK would be redundant?

1. It was luck as they could have chosen to repair it instead.
2. The Sale of Goods Act says that the contract is with the dealer, not the distributor or manufacturer. A manufacturer's warranty is a selling point, no more
3. Unlike you I actually check my facts before challenging what people write:
http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/sale-of-goods-act

Ignore the fact the law he been amended - the 6 year bit has been there since 2006.
4. Rukka specifically sells the fact that they have a no quibble warranty and certainly on the trousers the quibbled, botched the repair then absolved themselves of responsibility. I actually got the replacement from Tran Am.

So your point is what exactly?

See what you and your wife's quest for His-n-Her * clothing has gone and done, littlead?

You've spawned a monster!

You didn't confirm who it was you had to threaten .... I am assuming it was J&S?

I bought my Rukka through Infinity and never pay full price for anything and you didn't answer this

:nenau

At the end of the day despite you having a couple of issues and having to get all shouty with some person or company you have yet to confirm it seems that everything has been resolved to your satisfaction once Tran Am became involved?

It's unfortunate that it came to this but it did and they resolved it which to me seems like a result?

Life's too short to ride shit motorcycles in inferior clothing :thumby:

1. The dealer as that is who the sale contract is with.
2. Did you read the link or have you Googled sale of goods act?
3. It depends on whether the said goods could reasonably be expected to have lasted for 6 years - again did you read the link? Assuming no damage, accidental or otherwise, it's pretty likely that a motorcycle suit costing north of £1,500 isn't going to fall to bits after a couple of years.

Take a look at the Dainese stuff.

Not disimilar -

Cheers chaps.

I'm off to J&S tomorrow as they hold most of the kit mentioned on here then on to the dealers to look at the BM stuff so should have a better idea on what to get (or be more confused). Personally I don't want the Charlie and Ewan look, plus I won't (intentionally) be taking it off road, but intend using it for Solo fun rides plus 2 up touring

Don't forget to take your wife with you (she who prompted this thread in the first place) or you'll only get it wrong and be going back, a beaten man.

She'll be at work ;)

I'll be doing the donkey work as usual and will take her later once I've narrowed things down a bit. If I get a beating that'll be a bonus....
