Ce samedi, dans le cadre de notre programme de mise en valeur des Lieux de l'Histoire Automobile, la première plaque de l'année sera posée au Circuit de la Roquette (81). C’est sur ce pré à vaches de La Roquette prêté par René Colin, que vont rouler les premières vraies motos de cross, et dès 1958 des championnats de France avec des pilotes de notoriété.
Freddie Spencer's and Mike Kidd's racers shot together at Ascot Park in 1981. Freddie's Honda (left) was the early CX500-based machine, while Kidd's was the Yamaha XV750-based rig. Two very cool experiments that had a lot of work put into them, yet never enjoyed that much success.
A local chap I ride with a bit, George Webb was racing there in 1970 in the ISDE in Spain and his 441 BSA (no 320) would be in the far left of that line-up in parc ferme
He’s still one helluva rider, even in his 80’s and can show younger men, a clean pair of heels off-road even today

Ballacraine Hotel, Isle of Man, 1952. Once one of the most famous haunts on the TT course, it closed in 1984 and now serves as a private residence.

Sonny snapped this pic of a Norton wideline featherbed racer powered by a Moto Guzzi single at Crystal Palace, England, 1953.
This bike was built by Ted Fenwick from York.
Ted raced it for a few years, including at Brough, an airfield circuit in East Yorkshire that attracted top riders from all over the UK to compete.
It was later raced by John Kidson.
Ted Fenwick had a remarkable motorcycle road racing career, his last Win on the IOM, at the pre-TT Classic Meeting on the Billown Circuit being when Ted was aged 87 years.
If you look closely you'll spot Ted's name on the door of the lorry.

that's really cool. I'll bet a 441 was pretty good for the job in 1970 a friend of mine has one but it's been sitting for 50 years - literally. can't believe someone made a connection to that pic right down to a specific rider!
