It was a bolt that came loose on the front mudguard that locked up the front end suspension not allowing it to compress at the bottom of Bray Hill causing him to crash at high speed, there are some pretty horrible pics post crash near Ago's, they covered his body with a piece of wooden sign and continued the raceThe first FIM 500cc world champion in 1949 on the factory AJS, Les Graham, was previously a Lancaster pilot during the second world war. With prompting from close friend Bill Lomas, Les eventually made the move to the Italian MV Agusta team - but fate was waiting just around the corner! At the 1953 Isle of Man Senior TT (pictured) Les lost control of his four cylinder missile on the unforgiving Bray Hill and crashed - tragically losing his life. Some say it was caused by the leading link forks - others say it was rider error, but whatever the reason, a true hero was lost that day.
