Hitlers bunker site at the Wolfs Lair, Poland

Great thread Taff ... Do you have any good route suggestions , and what time of year did you go?
Thanks. No particular routes TBH Strider, I just asked the GPS to take me along the quickest routes but I only came across one motorway section and that was between Warsaw and Krakow, which was so new it was like riding on velvet. The vast majority of roads back then were like our A and B roads, although this may have changed in the last couple of years. Perhaps I was just lucky, but the standard of driving over there wasn't as bad as some people had led me to believe.

I went at the end of May 2006. Wouldn't mind doing it again sometime.

Publicity

I bet every eejit has heard of Von Staffenburg now Hollywood has 'dramatised' the whole story with stumpy Tom Cruise, Eddie Izzard et al.

I further bet there will be a whole load of guides on site now hoping for a torrent of visitors this summer! Perhaps you guys all visited at the best time...

I thought of going to Peenemunde, but TBH after reading up on it, there seems to be very little left to see there now, and it seemed a hell of a long way to go for little reward so I knocked the idea on the head. I did go to Nordhausen though - where V1 and V2 rocket production was moved to after Peenemunde was bombed and that was a good trip. :thumb2
