Anyone used one of these for a long period?

What are they like?

A couple of years ago when they first launched the FS-10 Carbon, infinity had it for £175 for the Carbon one .. I didn't get it .. now they are £300 :(

However .. my local George White is doing the regular version of the FS10 for £99 .. so I am quite tempted. It seems to fit the shape of my head very well. I can get my glasses tucked in ok. Like the fact it has a built in sun visor.

I was thinking of getting it as my commuting helmet. My Shoei has all the autocom stuff specifically the boom mic, which I find really irritating as I have never used it as the bluetooth connection to my phone is crap.

So real life experience of the HJC FS 10 would be much appreciated.

This is the one I am probably going to go for ..

UPDATE .. just been looking around and found this government website

sharp.direct.gov.uk

It scores the HJC FS10 as 3 stars only

But what surprised me is that my Multitec is only 3 stars too

The system 5 has a 5 stars rating

hmmmm ...

Cabergs have 5 star ratings,and they've got the built in sun visor,worth a look.:Motomartin

cabergs are good, iv got a "trip", nice helmet,
skorpion do the inner visor thing too

I have an older cl or cs 15(?) HJC. It's an okay helmet which easily fits the autocom speakers and mic into. I do find it a bit loud but it was only about 50quid as it was the last one they had and in red!

Would I buy HJC again... Yes as they rate as high as many other helmets and are a darn whack cheaper!

I've used the HJC AC-11 for four years now. Excellent lid and it has certainly served me well. Ride magazine did a report some years ago before the sharp test began. The HJC came home with a recommended triangle just behind the Shoei raid II, but at a much lower price.

With 4 years service I am looking to replace the HJC very soon and have an eye on the Caberg Trip. You can pick them up from the web at around the £90 mark and they have 5 star rating; just not certain about a flip front and just how secure the locking mechanism will be if you really need it. Having slid down a road once before I am not keen to use my chin as a brake if!

I wouldn't be too worried about the new ratings yet. Some very good helmets like the Schuberth S1 get only two stars, and Schuberth are adamant that the tests are not apropriae, as they put far too much emphasis on areas of the helmet that only very, very rarely get hit.

Manufacturers seem to have often lightened these parts, as to have top strength all over results in a helmet that is too heavy. Basically, for the top weight ahtt we are willing to accept, they think it is better to have more strength in the more vulnerable areas, as this is overall safer than taking it away from these to satisfy a test in a bit that has your shoulder between it and the road.

i have the cs12, dont really use it much, as i have a system 5 and sport integral, but the cs12 is a superb helmet, very well made, and is cheap.

yes i would buy another, if i didnt have others.

had one for a few years now a FG-14 i think it was about 150 to buy, build quality is good, would happily buy hjc again.

at the end of the day a good fitting cheap helmet will be better for you than an expensive ill fitting one
