Interesting

Here's a question for ya.....

Will the new offer from the Main BM Dealer in Norn Iron really really piss off owners with bikes that are less than 5 years old ???????

Offer allegedly = 37% reduced "labour" cost (i.e. to just below £50/hour) on servicing/maintenance and 10% off parts BMW for bikes of over 5 years old really piss owners with bikes that are less than 5 years old off

Interesting sales strategy don;t you think ?????

Now where's the blue touch paper smiley? :aidan

BMW car dealerships have been offering the same kind of deal to owners of older 4 wheeled BMWs for a number of years. It's an attempt to retain older vehicles in the dealer network for longer and to generate some added business.

All very well but Farquharr Bloggs just paid £15k for a new 1200GSA Why should he have to pay £80 / hr for labour

when Ernie Snortwurst with his 6 year old R1150 or 1200 Whassaname pays £47 I think it is

That'll be interesting when Folks hear

Give it 6 months and the 1200 will be so corroded it will look 5 years old, so they might get away with the cheap servicing :D

I think it's more the case that people with 5+ year old BMW's don't pay the BMW rate at all and they are trying to get owners of said older bikes back into their clutches instead of them using (usually cheaper) independents.

At circa £50 per hour I can't see them having much success. Well not from me anyway. :)

and whats story with warranty when buy a new bike?

do you have to get even basic oil and filters done buy main dealer?

It's BMW's consipiracy to get the older bikes out of circulation.
I tell ye.:rob:rob
ie: cheap labour rate, get us in , tell us the bike's fekked and out you ride with a new one.

The "premium" brands all have bright shiny "look how great we are" showrooms which cost a fortune to construct, maintain and service (rates, heat/light, insurance etc.) If people don't come in they won't buy anything and the entire deck of cards collapes.

When a company manufactures some products that can be used for over a decade and simply home serviced with very few special tools required getting the footfall must be difficult, especially when large sections of your customer base decide that the old models are superior and don't therefor fall into the pit of two to three year change cycle(:D). If you don't go into the showroom you won't see the latest bling, accessory, facelifted riding gear etc. so sales of those aren't achieved either.

This seems to be aq case of admitting that hey are overcharging in the first place.

If yiou raise the subject with a main dealer service manager, I garuantee you he'll say they're "losing money on servicing the older bikes, but it's all part of our committment to customer care"

They must think we're pretty stooopid.
