Away at the moment in Europe, been checking the bike daily and during the 250 miles I did yesterday the rubber boot between the bevel box and swinging arm has developed a hole the size of a 20 pence piece on its upper surface.
Nothing could have hit it as it is below the brake torque arm and it appears to have no impact damage in the area.
Any known issues with the gaiters disintegrating

Reported fault, the angle of the bevel/swingarm in certain riding situations means that it can nip & rip the gaitor

You're not the first, I believe

Another for your long list

How's that 1200GSA TwinCam going?:D

Brilliant and it will be coming back to Austria with me in 4 weeks

I had mine replaced under warranty known fault when replaced it had worn through from the inside. I was on holiday in Austria when mine happened :-)

Will stick a patch on it to get me home, just in Ypres with a short run to Zeebrugge then home from Hull tomorrow.

Double checked and it is definitely damaged from the inside

Is this just a GSA problem? Or does it happen to the GS too? does the GSA have a longer rear suspension travel?

Mine was a 14 model GS
Stealer said that the rubber boot was made of a different type of rubber and wasn't as flexible the new boot 'looked' different shade of colour. Mines now been good for 8000 miles plus
