Anybody had a go at making their own handguards? Any advice on best positioning to keep hands warm?

Well I would have thought that the positioning of them would be fairly common sense :augie

I've made them for previous bikes.

Half Round Rainwater gutter, 4.5" or 6" across, plus a couple bits of steel strip to mount them. Spray them body colour. Work very well.

As said before you put them in front of your hands.

Because the standard BMW ones are too small, thereby offering Touratart and the like the opportunity to make more money flogging us larger ones that fit on in exactly the same mountings.

Mind you, last year they were too big in the summer. Mine are coming off in July for some cooling air.

:nenau I was out three times last week for a couple of hours when it was around 2C. Frank Thomas gloves on and heated grips on.
I can't say I felt that my hands were cold.

Got sick of getting cold wrist's.

Had the kids bring some broken sledges down from the woods last year and made these, they work very well and cost zero.

Only problem was that I used a blue sledge and had to colour in with a black marker pen

What about something like this?

Easy to make, bit of cardboard or old washing up cartons, bit of leatherette, bit of glue ... looks like they work a treat :thumb
