Reading this months Ride magazine made me realy happy cos I ride a 1997 1100 GS. Anyone know where the guy in the picture got his side panniers from? A mate thinks they are home made. I use Hepco and Becker at the moment and my bike is as wide as a car, kinda defeats the object and made a recent filtering session through San Remo traffic a nightmare. Anyone help? By the way hello all, new member and all that.

Hi

The answer to your first question may be gleaned from this thread...

The answer to the second question can be dug out of here but the classic Vern's Panniers are currently available second hand only, I am lead to believe. Not that anyone is selling them :)

There seems to be fair agreement that Al Jesse Odyssey's are good, but someone's going to disagree with that...

Not read the article you're talking about but I have seen a couple of photos of aluminium panniers from Slovenia (?) that retail for "about" £150.00 a pair & come in various sizes.

If I remember, I'll post photos from home. Apparently they fit on to the Touratech tubular pannier frames. Guy in Abingdon, nr. Oxford has a pair on his Africa Twin.
