Toxteth scouser, made good ..now hiding on Wirral
Treated myself to a nice shiny new Honda CBF1000 ABS. Great bike..except the headstock is out of alignment
Jesus H. you'd think the mighty Honda could make a decent bike for £6,500 by now.
Checked it out before I bought it on the www and it appears LOTS of them are sent out with faulty handlebars pulling about 20mm to the right !!! I knew of it on the 2006 model..but low and behold, Honda havn't done a thing about it and my sparkly new bike is deformed :rob

Credit to the mechanic, loosened off the top fork bolts and kicked the wheel straight...but it became 'wonky' again after a 120 mile run today.

Letter sent to Honda....one does expect better from the big H

Dammit..spoiling an otherwise brilliant bike ( keep turning right :D )

Only smiling and joking otherwise I'd set fire to the F****g thing :spitfire and obviously I won't be having another jap crap from them !!!

So that's Kawasaki and Honda off any future shopping lists now !!!!!!

Don't think it's just CBF's..... I bought a new Blackbird last year, 4 weeks and 1700 miles later it needed a complete wiring loom  the dealer I bought it from had another one with 200 miles, same problem :monkeypiz

Bad news. Shame too, as a CBF was on my list of possible GS replacements.

Like you say, not what you expect from a Honda.

Shame to read that about the CBF1000, I had a new one in May last year and did 6,500 miles on it in 5 months without a single problem. Went all over Belgium, France and Northern Spain. Came back home and ordered an R1200R which although expensive I thought was even better. BMW couldn't deliver so I bought a beautiful Rock Red non ABS 1200GS instead which I absolutely love! Thought the CBF was excellent, big cc biking for idiots which suited me!
Really easy to ride although the lights were poor and the styling eventually got to me. In the GS I've now got my perfect bike although I might consider a used R1200R as a second bike when the price becomes sensible!

Duncan. :boobies :boobies :boobies :boobies

Tis an excellant bike..took the missus out for her maiden CBF trial and she loves it ! Sweet motor..almost 275 miles on her now  I love the Honda running in advice...."don't use full throttle for 300 miles "...and that's it :)

Great bike and like a GS very easy to ride :thumb2

Having owned Hondas for the past 27 years & inspected (closely) their showroom updates. I can see that Honda, once the icon of quality, has fallen in the pit of accountancy control. Shear marks on stampings not deburred, flash "chrome" fittings & compromised fit, are incideous reminders that performance figures alone now sell bikes..:rob

Looks like the Harley owners slogan of " Jap Crap" has at last been realised... :hide

She goes in for her first service this week...I have an excellant dealer so the handlebar issue should be sorted then :)

Oh...and the first service is ..gasp...FREE :bounce1

Brilliant 'little' bike btw..with adjustable seat to lower for the girlies as well ( ahem, no comments please !!) Recommend this bike to anyone.

OK..just supposing this theory....a guy has a 15 day old bike and takes it in for its first service..to be told that the headstock may well have been welded out of true ( Italian welders :monkeypiz ) and this 'could' be the cause of the mis-aligned bars ( all theory mind ).

In theory does he:-
(a) Insist on a new bike
(b) Twat the Honda man as soon as he meets him
(c) Get full refund !!!

In theory can Honda 'insist' on taking the bike away for repair or does the aggrieved ( who will be out on bail after above assault ) have the absolute right to a replacement bike..after a mere 575 miles and 15 days use..and the fact it was reported when picked up from day 1.

In theory..ask me about Hondas on another day :spitfire

In theory I'd be suggesting option a followed by option c if the replacement was in the same condition as the original.

I may go for B first ( just to get this 'theory' out of my system ) !!! Oh and hold back on my previous post re recommending one of these...in theory of course :(
Becks time now..then I may go outside and :monkeypiz on the f***ing thing :spitfire

... in theory !!!

Option C it is :(

Good luck for the Bandit :)

Hand the keys over ASAP. Can't see the point in a new bike with a bent frame.

Piss poor from Honda.

Just an update.......OK...success !!

Dealer took the bike back and I have now bought a Honda CB1300ABS ( in fast black colour:augie )...just hope this one is straight !!!:)

Pick her up next week..wish me luck :thumb

Jeez, you just keep going from worse to worse. That's some salesman they've got there to shift one of those lardy pigs.Have you still got his wallet?

one of those lardy pigs.

That's pretty rich coming from a BM owner :) I changed my GSA for the CB1300S a couple of weeks ago and I am really pleased with my new bike. As for lardy, it weighs about the same as a GSA but feels about half the weight when moving it around in my garage.

Charles

Why don't you try a Triumph?:thedummy Oh no you did that:P

Or a Kawasaki?:ymca ah you did that too:blast

An old nail airhead?:rob mmm done that:augie

you could try a GS 1150:eek: nah you'd have nowt to moan about:)

I know....... a GS 1200:thumb

:D :D

Charles, my new best mate :thumb :)

Speaking with the Honda 'technician' at my dealer, he reckons the front wheel of the CBF1000 is about 6 mm to the nearside..reckons rear wheel may need recasting to offset the 6 mm ( he may have said 12mm but I can't honestly remember)etc etc:eek: Just his theory mind.....Honda still being shy about the bus loads of CBF1000 owners coming forward with bikes that steer better around one corner than the other !!

At least I have got shut of the CBF1000 and pick the black beast up next week ( and I'll give the salesman some of his wallet back :D )

Tim, don't you ever...EVER...try to get me to buy a 1200 GS :D

I'm actually also trying to buy a R80rt with a sidecar as we speak !!!!

I really must escape to a monastery or something..sort my life out :D
