Honda CRF 250 Rally 2017 for sale £1,500 - The Gambia
IMG_1327.jpegIMG_1418.jpeg
Followers of the ride report ‘Gael Warning on the Ivory Coast’ will know this bike well. It has transported me economically and safely from UK to and around West Africa and is now on 29,700 miles and in immaculate condition.

Reason for sale (and to buy!😁): it’s the perfect Africa travel bike (see spec below) but my time and inclination to ride it back home again is limited so am offering it for sale - a way for you to avoid the arduous Sahara crossing because ‘you’re already there’ with West Africa at your footpegs. (Note such bikes typically sell around £3,000 before all the extras).

The bike:
Honda CRF 250 Rally 2017 with all the mods needed for travel.

MoT until 30/09/26 with no advisories
Recently serviced valeted and new tyres, sprockets and DID chain
Outback Motortek pannier frame (as new)
Givi top box with 3 keys
Sheepskin seat with Airhawk
SeatConcepts seat
Fitted 5 litre “Rotopax-style” fuel pack plus additional 2 litre fuel can.
Comes with Schuberth C3 Pro helmet size Medium, 2 years old with Sena unit fitted
Switched mount for Garmin Nav V and Quadlock with switched dual USB A power supply
Garmin Nav V complete with T4A maps of all Africa and Garmin maps of Middle East
Heated grips (Oxford)
YSS rear suspension recently serviced by the legend that is Denzo/TTech
Fat bars with Tucano bar muffs for sun protection
Extra loud horn for warning donkeys😁
Ctek charger socket with warning lights
Tail tidy

Spares included: new heavy duty inner tube, puncture repair kit, new front and rear brake pads, new pack of clutch plates, new fork seals, prop stand, and other travel perquisites as per picture including a new diagnostic computer (never used as it’s a Honda!😁)

The deal and the timing:

I will transfer the V5 to your name on payment of £1,500

The Gambian paperwork : it’s on a Temporary Import Permit or passavant in my name until 9 February 2026. I can suggest how the paperwork might be handled but I’d suggest you also do your own research 🧐.

The timing: I must decide by 20 December whether to fly down to recover the bike in January, my best window to do so. So if you are seriously interested I would need to have a non-refundable deposit from you of £500 by that date as otherwise I need to book a flight out.

Any questions please PM me🙏

GLWS.

Some fuckers on here won’t travel 50 miles to buy a bike-“if only it was bit nearer blah blah blah” so this could be interesting .🤔😜

I appreciate for many it will be of little interest but for someone who is hankering after a West Africa adventure (without having to do the long hot haul through Morocco, Western Sahara and Mauritania and either the 32 km muddy and rutted piste to Diama or the nightmare Rosso border post) it could be very attractive 🤔.

Totally agree.

Did you try it on the HU Horizons Unlimited forum ?

Never a truer word said

That would be a fantastic journey back to the UK.
Toothbrush, credit card, and two pairs of pants....cos yer bound to shit yourself when encountering someone with an AK47 on the way up 🤣

That’s a bargain Simon - mmm tempted, is the shock still lowered after Lucas worked his magic?

TBH it's a pretty safe route back to UK...biggest challenge is the heat in the Sahara and the long distance between towns/places to stay...

Just to agree with Simon on the safety of the route back. Its worth researching the border options, but even the Rosso border is known to be less of a challenge going north, which was the case for me on my last crossing. I notice the Nouakchott(Sahara) temperatures are low 30C and 10C cooler than when Simon was there 3 weeks ago. The route back to UK is well established, and Simon and I have good knowledge to share. So for £1500, you get a great bike and a super winter adventure.

Now if you could get the owner of the other CRF in storage to sell up then these two bikes would be gone in no time.

Pub conversation “I know where there is a couple of handy CRF in Africa, do you fancy it?”

“Yeah, let’s go for it”

Sends non refundable £500 to Simon before last orders. 🤣🤣

Haha. Spot on! The other guy is a Brit (I know no more) who is planning to ship his home…

I’m on holiday with time on my hands and it’s amazing what can twirl through your mind.

I have a friend in Zambia who was asking me when I am coming to visit and I must be honest despite following your trip I had to look up Gambia where your bike is and Zambia.

In my head there was a chance they could be close but alas no. Google couldn’t find a route to drive initially and it was 74 days on foot so a fair old schelp. I will post the map and GLWS but I think I’m out.
