Just killing time, looking through websites, etc and I like the look of the 2014 Honda CRF450X, as my ageing DRZ400 has signs of retirement approaching, she has done well but is 10 years old now and has seen some action.....
One of the stumbling blocks for me is fuel capacity on the newer bikes as a 7 liter fuel cell is almost useless in Western Wales on a Sunday for example, though there is Just Gas Tanks website that shows a number of larger cells for this Honda model.
So, have you any tales of joy from owning one of these bikes, or have you stories of woe from the use of such a machine?
All info will be gratefully received.

Timpo.

Speak to the guys at TRM Racing (Terry Rudd) in the Fens - they are a main Honda offroad dealer and run MX Race teams riding them for years.

They told me all the ins and outs and were very knowledgeable in a non pushy, unbiased sort of way

Barry was the chap

They knew all the ins and outs of putting the road kit and how to mod the looms, he told me about the valves etc

Honda have a genuine 0% over 24 months, no arrangement fees or owt - a genuine deal for this Quarter and the 2013 comes with either a Leo Vince or DEP Pipe FOC

Call me, if you want

I believe two good mods for tral riding are a heavier flywheel and removal of the titanium valves and fitting 1-piece steel valves.

Been looking over this bike today, not sure if to start with this bike, then make it better for longer distances etc. the fully homologated version costs an extra £1000 over the standard x, it's a pity that the alloy tank still only holds 7 litres when they could have made it a bit bigger with the emphasis on being used on the road.

That tank looks stunning! is that a standard part?
