Honda Crosstourer

I really like the look of the crossover but that's not to say I would have one, ""yet"" just because it took me a long time to find the money to buy my second hand 1200gs and I love riding it
I rode a Honda deauville 650 for many years touring Europe and it has to be the easiest bike I have ever rode, in that time the only thing that I had a problem with in that time was the fuel pump, if I left the bike for more than a day I had to suck on the fuel pipe to get the fuel up to the pump, after a replacement relay (£16) when I got back from Europe no more problems. Very reliable bike,
I can't say the same for my BMW 1150rt as I had to take off the abs system last year after only 22000 on the clock

I also tested a CT expecting it to feel very heavy, but again on the move it did not feel much bigger / heavier than the GS.

How was the CT's power compared to the S10? The CT was on my short-list before before buying the S10, but couldn't get a test ride.

I've tried both CT and S10. In all honesty, I really wanted to like the S10 having owned the original 750 back in '89. But the engine felt quite flat and boring and although it is deceptive just how reasonably quick it really is, it felt no better than my '05GS. In fact, my GS felt much more gutsy.

The CT on the other hand is brilliant. Nuff said. :JB

Hello Ricochet. I'm glad I found your post regarding risers on your bars.. I'm just curious before I buy....did you require any cable modification for your Motech risers?
Thanks

I really liked the CT but found it to be higher than the 05 & 07 gs`s I had so I struggled a bit and with no official options for seats or to lower one I bought another k1300r. But I would consider one if they make a lower seat or other options I can try as I don't want to get one and find I can't get on with it!

Have had my Crosstourer now for 2 months & really impressed...for a heavy bike you do not notice the weight even when even going at walking pace, Honda really seem to have cracked mass centralisation/low CoG with this model; had a Triumph Tiger previously so know a top heavy bike when i ride one:-)
Fuel consumption not as bad as i had been led to believe & managed 49mpg on mixed roads, 300 mile ride, ie London & round trip through Suffolk/Norfolk...& was not hanging around.
Have fitted basic accessories such as fender extender, hugger, radiator guard (a must i think) & lower footpegs.....other accessories looking to get is a raised screen (advice anyone?) & handlebar raisers.
Overall the Crosstourer was a great decision to buy.....test rode the new watercooled 1200GS, good fun, chuckable & torquey but has a fair amount of engine vibration around 75mph not good....

I just bought one
I was after another make of adventure bike after owning about 8 GSs in all guizes Ive still got my 1150GS SE with under 6k miles on it but thats the Keeper
I tried the S10 thought it was flat as a witches tit wanted the multistrada but the dealers summary of the bike was that it was fragile!! he's one had gone wrong about 6 times in as many months so that was out, new Caponord looked great but neares dealer 100 miles away and the spares are a real nightmare so that was out
Rode the Triumph Explorer and loved it bought a 10 month old bike with 700 miles on the clock rode it for a week and phoned triumph saying that the engine sounded rattly, it needed a new head!! started reading about the head, shaft drive, cntr stand problems and although Triumph are addressing the problems under warrantee, I was told on the phone the work could take 5 weeks, that was it, I really liked the bike but not having it for almost the rest of our crappy summer did it for me, so it was traded in for a Crosstourer, which was also on my short list and it was a toss up between the two in the first place,
3 year warrantee with the option of Extending it to 4 or 5 year must mean they have confidence in there product, I cant think why BMW dont do the same

You won't be disappointed. Just back from 4k miles to Italy without a glitch.

Like trev, we're off for a good run in July.

So before our trip to Austria next month, I have just bought a Cam One Infinity Cam which I had on the CT for the first time yesterday. Just a quick 15 min spin around here to see if I'd set it up properly but must admit I was pleasently surprised at the results.

Despite the rough roads in some places, these was very little shake as you can see from this vid.

Just have to apologise for my ugly mug checking the cam half way through !!

Do you run the Akra with the baffle in or out and did you have to remap?
I fitted one and the traction control light,ABS and the FI light came on and the speedo read 0mph,dont know if this was just a coincidense .Put it back to standard and speedo still reads 0mph.But otherwise bike runs like a dream.

Why not check out the Triumph or Moto Guzzi?

I think he needs a nice secondhand low mileage Nissan Micra with one mature owner for his needs, and use the spare cash to sort out his childhood abandonment issues.

Warrantee

Yet they do in America?

It's only an end can so no need to remap. Runs with baffle out and runs perfectly. You must have an unrelated gremlin in the system somewhere.

Thanks for the reply.I washed the bike and took off standard can, next day fitted the Akra.Maybe water in electrics.Shop think it maybe speed sensor.Going in this week.
