Honda CT125 Hunter Cub

No manual clutch I’m sorry to say so when you wind the revs up it’s 8HP just gently potters you down the road!

Micky, save up your pennies or plan a bank heist so you can fit an OPMID meter - then you will be able to read the screen in that elusive stuff called sunlight and watch your terminal velocity of 52 in proper MPH

There's no clutch on the gear pedal?

Just seen Micky's on it.

Happy new bike day Micky it looks a corker.

I’ve had many Honda cubs over the years and had more smiles per £ than any other machine.

Just make sure that it’s kept nice and securely, I think I might worry about young scrotes trying to get their hands on it.

DN4 Postcode and no garage not helping me. If the local scrotes get to know where it is it'll go :rob

Gonna take the front wheel out and store that in the house .... it's only a five minute job ;)

Just seen Micky's on it.

It's automatic, centrifugal. Soon as you move the gear change up or down the clutch is withdrawn. Releases as you let the gear lever go :thumb2

You can pull up at a junction and press the gear-lever in to first and keep your foot on it. You're now holding the clutch in. Let the gear lever go and accelerate away .... I believe

… Standard speedo can be altered from KPH to MPH …

If your’s is a Thai domestic model like mine then I doubt it (tho’ it may have changed for this latest model) certainly the US and others cannot switch

The bike has two clutches, a gear shift and engine speed regulated one (centrifugal) and both have to be actuated to set off. Even your delicate hobnails would struggle to locate and hold that elusive momentary disengagement spot - that spot is neither full down or up. Past Ange and John Furr have never managed it and once you are on rough terrain (and probably dabbing at the countryside to remain upright) impossible

Essentially you can’t hold the bike out of gear (other than in green light neutral) with any significant revs on

Thanks for that Kritou .... a learning curve for me :rob

I think it's a domestic Thai model .... can certainly switch the speedo KPH to MPH though :thumb2

All stickers and safety decal are in, I presume, Thai :thumb2

Aye ... with any significant revs on being the key words

:thumb2

That's my secret .... no one can see the 'bike, only my immediate neighbours know it's here. Anyone in the backs when I ride up them to my rear gate, if a car or whatever stops behind me as I turn up, I ride straight out of the top and round the block, and try again. I spent three years on Regional Crime Squad Motorcycle Surveillance and know how to throw a tail off the scent .... and I'm looking for them :rob

Today spent dismantling various nuts and bolts, calliper mountings etc and applying liberal coating of CopperSlip. FS365 Anti Corrosion sprayed underneath, lower frame and engine, swing arm etc. Sumpguard removed ready for powder coating black to match the rear rack, headlight etc.

Peli case ordered for the rear rack. Like a fucking idiot I left the same size Peli case on the F800GS when I sold it to SteadySteve. I thought I was doing him a favour but he asset stripped the 800 and sold off all the bits separately .... it'll not fucking happen again :rob

Battery charge lead (tyre pump) to wire up ... maybe the Opmid speedo before I start putting the miles on it. Looks a great piece o' kit Kritou :thumb2

Man after my own heart, many an hour spent with refreshments in hand undoing perfectly tightened bolts to copa slip, them and re install. Waxoyl under the ( steel) mudguards exposed bolts etc. its all part of the tradition of a new bike.

The colour looks brilliant Micky. Looking forward to seeing it with the rack and other farkles bought before Christmas.

Lastly did you sort out competitive insurance?

Steve

Fantastic looking bike Micky.

One day I hope Hamish the Himmy and your new bike may meet up somewhere in Yorkshire:beerjug:

Spotted a guy on a brown one going down the M62 yesterday all loaded up. Maybe someone from here ?

Seriously Mickey, can’t you replace that back window with a couple of stout double glazed french windows? You will sleep a lot better and be able to work on the bike in the dry and warmth …

When you have a mo it would be good to know how the mph/kph works

Congrats on the bike,Micky.
Just missing the Choccy Carriage bolt on…….

Just removed the Thai stickers and warnings.

Just been and double checked .... keep 'Sel' and 'Set' buttons pressed together (ignition on of course) and the speedo mph starts flashing. Press 'Sel' to toggle between MPH or KPH and press 'Set' Job done. Glad to help :thumby:

You're Hastings suggestion .... wouldn't even give me a quote :blast

Answered in your quote above ... was going to say I hope that you can adjust yours, but if you have the OpMid speedo then you're sorted. Gonna get one for mine, I like Farkles :D:thumb2

House insurance could be a problem if I keep the 'bike in the house, maybe, maybe not. I do have a couple of quotes coming in at £300 to £350 so it's not the end of the world. What it'll cost me to convert that window to French Doors and new flooring in the room would insure the 'bike for a few years. If the push comes to shove I could 'keep' the 'bike at my lads a mile away ... in his garage with the MZ ;)

I don't have room in the garden for a 'bike steel shed, not enough room to get the 'bike in to it .... but I do have room for one of these. It would work, Just looking where I can buy in the UK ...

Thanks Arsey .... I like that :thumby:

Some serious kit on that 'bike, from steering damper to the huge handbrake

Had a 250 MZ SupaFive with a little single seat Dart sidecar for a short period of time .... I was going to kill myself on it. Darwen told me to get shut :D

Howzabout something like this Micky?

This one might not fit the dimensions of the bike but others might?

That might work Peter :thumb2

Pal of mine went to live in Germany, had one of these and kept his 1200GS in it (same central door opening) when he lived at Rotherham. Rolled it in and just enough room for the back end to be inside. The CT125 I can pick the back end up and swing it inside :D:rob

Work in progress .... thank you :thumb

More fettling today, front wheel out (axle as dry as a Nuns crutch) copper slipped the mudguard mounting bolts, FS365 on the inside of the mudguard (metal) :thumb

2023 engine different to the 2022. Longer stroke (smaller bore) slightly less power but up a lump on torque ... that'll do nicely :thumb2

The valve covers are different shape ...

i-X6fm39c-L.jpg

Notice the cross brace on the crash bars ... that's new :thumb2

The front oil dip stick has gone to make way for the new oil filter ...

i-LfBd6zV-L.jpg

From underneath you can see the modified crankcases for the oil filter ...

i-FWNkNQR-L.jpg

Oil filler and dipstick moved to the old filler place ...

Front mudguard ...

i-LRw33P7-L.jpg

GPS fitted, had to use the RAM mount ball method. The centres for the handlebar clamps different to my old mounts :thumb

i-PJGxNFc-L.jpg

The thumb wheel tightening clamp will be replaced by an Allen head bolt in due course :thumb2

i-FFLbRsH-L.jpg

Also fitted today, will wire up with the SatNav in due course, a dual USB (C and 2) ...

i-MHj5d86-L.jpg

Also gives a read out of Voltage :thumb2

Honda have made quite a few updates to these engines .... hope they haven't spoilt them :rob

Hi Micky,
Probably won't make it to Strontian as I need 3 weeks for my Scandinavian trip in June. Denmark to Sweden to Norway back to Denmark and then home.

Understood ... sounds like a great trip :thumby:

I'll let you know about the nuts, but I'm just thinking about replacing the clamping bolt and wing nut on the short clamping pieces for a metric set up. Haven't investigated yet .... maybe over the weekend.
Hope to get some powder coating done tomorrow :D

Well I bit the bullet and sold a kidney ...

OpMid speedo ordered
.
Side rack for the nearside rear to support a Kriega US20 bag, ordered.
