Honda CT125 Hunter Cub

Something I just noticed.
R1250GS, Givi rack fitted on my bike. Max load capacity 6kg.
CT125, standard (enormous) rack fitted. Max load capacity 20kg
???!!!

I think mine says Max Load 40kg

They sell and fit pillion pads and footrests for the CT125 so you can carry a pillion on the rack :D

Mines got a 20kg max load sticker on it, but it looks stronger than a strong thing.

Speaking of "max load" I would like to install shocks with heavier springs as the stock ones are mostly compressed with my 205 pounds. Has anyone here done this?

Mine might be 20kg then ... will have a look next time I take the cover off. It sleeps outside and its raining now!

My rear suspension is spine crunching over potholes and rough roads .... going for YSS suspension front and rear next :thumby:
Quite a few videos on uTube Clifton re fitting of after market suspension!

:beerjug:

The replacement shocks I've seen don't mention being heavier sprung but I'll keep looking. Yes my weight alone mostly compresses the suspension at a standstill and it bottoms on bumps which makes it very harsh riding.

I believe that is a Thai Lady Pillion - so that’ll be max 40Kgs ;-)

Most of the eBay used ones seem overpriced, all around £4500 (and most at DK motorcycle spares) and some with a few miles on them.
There’s a chap who has sold a few, (Keith Dawson) and currently has two new ones listed for £4750 on eBay. He’s imported them and I think they may be his last two. Seven seas were the main supplier but apparently have no plans to import anymore, and the chap on the Isle of Wight has gone quite. I don’t know of any others selling them.
Best thing is to just keep your eye open for decent used ones that do come up from time to time, from private sellers, on eBay and the UK Facebook forum. Occasionally one or two on Biketrader too.
Thank you, that's helpful (y)

Bit late to the insurance debate but Bikesure/Adrian Flux have insured me on a multi bike policy,
The Dax and the CT for the princely sum of £165. That’s without my main NCB, just two years for the Dax. The good news is they now have the CT as a recognised model.

Out of interest how many CT owner are on here?

Had business in Sheffield today, so had a ride out to Monyash, Derbyshire, afterwards for breakfast ....

It was tasty, had better .... had much worse :thumby:

About fifteen other bikers out there, took it in turns to gather round the Adventure Cub like flies round a corpse ...

The Yoshimura exhaust a little noisy, but certainly pulls better up the hills :D
One BHP increase but that equates to 10% :D:D:thumby:

General service and clean around .... I like to tinker.

Brakes stripped and cleaned. The original Honda grease and assembly was very good .... far far better than anything from BMW :blast

I'd bought a valve tappet adjustment tool ...

But didn't need it .... the valve clearances hadn't budged in 3,000 miles :thumby:

I'd bought myself some JIS screwdrivers
'Japanese Industry Standard' screwdrivers .... different to our normal 'Phillips' screwdrivers which 'cam out' of the Japanese fixings. Just makes life much easier and they don't make a mess of the screw heads :JB

Result :thumby:

This is a good idea. I had always meant to get a set since I had my first jap bike - many moons ago. I've just looked and they are £14.99 a set at Halfords ATM - but you have to go into store for a trade card price. But I will pick up a set later on and add them to the tool box.

Nice one Micky, looking good.

Now, how about getting someone to make up some “Honda GS 125” stickers.

That would be a laugh and a little poke at us so called adventurers with mahoosive bikes
🤣🤣
