I've been thinking of getting a scooter for times when I just want to nip out and stumbled across the Honda 125 msx. I like what I see and sort of reminds me of my monkey bike I had many years ago. Any owners on here or anyone that have test rode one?

I got mine a few weeks ago, and it's an absolute hoot! It's completely different to anything else, and you have to remember that it'll run out of puff at about 65! Don't get one if you're shy, as everyone wants to talk to you about it! I took it to London on Saturday, and it was in its element.:thumb

£4.50 worth of petrol will get you about 120 miles, and it cost me £36 a year to insure! I managed to get around 15% off list price on a 2017 model.:beerjug:

Do it. You'll love it!

They look ace and I'd be tempted by one but you might find a Van Van 200 more practical and just as much fun.

I considered one of those, but the deal I got on the Grom (£2500 on the road, with a few extras fitted) was a no brainer.

I fancy it for the commute in to work with quite a bit of filtering on the way home. Honda are offering 0% interest as well.

I would imagine these would be worse at filtering as they are nearly as wide as a normal full size bike and your view will be worse, never mind your visibility to others

I went the other way an got a Honda SH125i, a big wheel scooter. Brilliant handling, fastest way across Nottingham in rush hour and cost pennies to run.

I do like the MSX/Grom, but for me the Scooter is slightly more practical. Also it has a top-box for helmet and gloves, under seat storage for waterproofs, so I can park up and look relatively normal. Weather protection with a screen and hand guards is ace too.

I had an itch for a scooter for a while, and itched it 4 years ago, and have loved every minute of it.

Nope, the mirrors go under most car mirrors when filtering!:D

And when the gap is small, you just put it under your arm, and walk down the pavement!:P

The visibility apsect would worry me also. As RW says its hard to beat a Scoot for commuting. My Forza 300 has 10K mile son it now and works a treat.

It's not like it's the size of a tricycle! With someone of normal height on it, you're perfectly visible to other road users. I also wave and toot at everyone when I'm on this bike, so they hear and see me coming.:D

I test rode one and loved it as long as you are not in a hurry.

Lots of aftermarket stuff for it. When riding it, it felt no different to a bigger bike.

I did 5,000 miles on mine locally over two years and loved it. It received loads of attention especially at bike meets. Traded it in earlier this year for a nearly new 390 Duke which isn't much bigger but much quicker and totally bonkers.

Exactly. It's perfect for riding round town, and as the 0-60 is about half an hour, you're not in fear of your licence on it!:P

You're right about the aftermarket accessories; I'm trying not to look!:D

after reading about the Norwegian adventure , I can definitely see the appeal.
Seriously considering getting my missus one of these , should went to take her CBT last year , did the theory went out into the car park and couldn't touch the floor !!
Certainly looks like a laugh anyhow
Happy new bike by the way

There is something rather fabulous about riding a small capacity scoot/msx quickly.

Think I might check out the offers on the MSX, as think I could squeeze one in alongside the scoot..

The only other thing to add is that it seems to have the benefits of a scooter (except for the whole luggage thing) with the involvement and fun of a motorcycle.

It does prove that you can have fun without going at warp speed!

We've got 1 each here, as previously said toddle along at just over half a ton comfortably, bit less headwind , so long as your not in a massive hurry they're great fun.
Be prepared for every knob head on a big bike not too nod tho:eek:
Akro full systems ,tail tidy mini indicators belly pans and huggers.
We went to Ely couple of weeks ago, parked outside the chip shop ,cod n chips mushy peas then a race home, she started it passed me on the inside ,that was it we were both flat on the tanks touching 65 laughing like a couple of Teenagers :clap

Haha, brilliant!

So far, I've just fitted different mirrors and levers, but have a tail tidy on back order. I've just ordered a full Arrow decat system tonight, so will pop over to Hilltop once that's fitted!:P
