Sold Honda Transalp 74 plate

I bought this new in October 2024 for our annual European road trip, which although it was delayed this year, it has just completed with ease; 2500 miles in nine days all around the Alps / Dolomites. Total mileage is now 5400 miles and it’s due it’s first annual service in November; I paid for the Honda 3 service plan so that and the next service are included. Due to ongoing health issues I’ve made the decision that I won’t be travelling by bike any more so this needs a new home.

Purchased from Honda Nottingham I had the following Honda accessories fitted before delivery by Honda:

Centre / main-stand

Heated grips

Upper and lower air deflector sets

Tall travelling screen

Hand guards

12V socket on the dash



I have fitted the following after-market touring accessories:

Never been off-road or used in the winter salt; in fact it had never been wet until our trip last week. All keys, documents etc. present. Everything works as advertised and it was run-in to the letter. I managed to put a scuff on the left hand pannier lid (parking garage wall) and there is a small mark on a sticker on the right hand side fairing. I will be putting an ad on EBAY over the weekend but thought I’d offer it here first. £7995.00. PM if interested.

Following a few questions I thought I'd do a quick review of the Transalp and talk about the common misconceptions. I have been on a downsizing yoyo journey for about five years, alternating between GSA and various middleweight bikes across the manufacturers. I settled on the Transalp because it does everything well and ticks the majority of the boxes. Let's talk about a few misconceptions or issues:
Suspension: when I first bought the bike after a new 1250 GSA I thought the suspension was poor, but I experimented with the pre-load and found that with the front set to 9 and the rear to 5 it really improved and fully loaded on the winding passes I couldn't fault it.
Cruise: I thought I would miss it, but the throttle is so light and the range quite small so I didn't find it a problem and let's face it if Honda did put cruise (and electronic suspension) on it then they would not sell another Africa Twin.
Tubed Tyres: not an issue as you're not changing a tube at the roadside just like you're not fixing a puncture in a tubeless tyre apart from the simplest of plugs.
The major plus with the bike is the engine, it's an absolute beauty and is super smooth and very economical. Over the life of the bike so far it has averaged over 70 mpg, which is incredible. Fully loaded around the Grossglockner last week it kept up with the 1200 GSA that I was riding with and I think the rider would run out of ability or road well before you ran out of available power. I think it actually has a better power to weight ratio than the Africa Twin.
In summary it's a great bike but my health issues mean that it's time to stop touring; I do have a 50 year old bike that I can tinker and potter around locally with so not stopping riding just yet. Any other questions just ask.

To answer a couple more questions: the rear tyre has 2.5mm left in the centre and is not squared off due the the time it spent on the Alpine curves which sort of re-profiled it. The pictures are from Thursday after the end of trip clean, apart from the luggage ones which were taken earlier in the year (I had put the bike away before I realised I had not done a luggage pic and I couldn't be bothered to get it all out of the loft again).

Ive got the same bike with every Honda extra on it, apart from the luggage I put 3 pce metal luggage on it, was out on it Sunday what a great bike, I really love it, well I must do its coming up for its 2nd birthday, so it must be good as thats some kind of record for me !! it goes well handles well and is all day comfi, whats not to love, id recommend it to anyone, maybe not as excited about the new 2025 NT1100 ive just bought though although it is growing on me !!

Blue one 25 model manual had the decal kit fitted at the dealers before it was delivered and a set of Road 6s at first service along with the comfort seat, front spot lights, etc this was taken when a week old, few more bits added since then, the bike has it all TBH the carplay is a fantastic thing to have on a bike, and once you get used to all the buttons they make sense, throttle still a bit jerky but they say there is a fix for that !! (Eagerly waiting) but when you are just pottering about put it in rain mode still the same power just a different throttle map and its super smooth the Mrs thought it was very smooth !! in full on mode it can be a bit snatchy but im told a massive improvement over the older model, it was between this and the GSXS1000GX as I do like a 4cyl bike but the resale value of them goes down quicker than a $10 hooker !!

Very nice. Mines the same colour but the ES model with the voyager pack. Personally I think it’s a bargain. I think my time of splashing 20 to 30 k Ona bike is long gone.
It’s 80% of the Goldwing at 50% of the price.

Very true, I did not get the voyage pack fitted as they did not have all the bits in at the time but got the top box comfort seats, I used after market spots connected into the dash and handlebar switch with the correct loom, its nice to have them properly fitted as intended the top box price made my eyes water !! do you find on the DCT the throttle a bit harsh ?

I am another who bought a Transalp 750.

Traded-in the F800GS that I had for a long time for it and i really like it.
They are a fine bike - nice and light, plenty quick enough and comfortable with a few mods done to it
