Horizons Unlimited Event (June 24th>27th)

Are you riding up on Friday evening Paddy? I've just looked at the Map thinking I'm closer and you are further away from Ripley but in actual fact it's about the same. Hour and a half's ride :thumb2

Chances are I'll be there Friday evening and for Saturday day before heading home on Saturday evening.

Actually, 'Africa' is the big room (according to the all new schedule) 'Asia' is the 'back room'

Oh, and you're on at three, not two :augie

But Glynn will probably move both of us at least twice more before we get there :D

I am looking forward to my rookie status at this gig, I may well go in to the bike communications talk simply to ensure I don't end up contradicting the fella, could even turn his/mine in to a clinic on these matters? Nil desperandum I am having a chill out time and Les & Jane will look after me of that I'm sure.

Think I've got to go to Yosi's talk as well - okay :D

I'll be heading up tomorrow now, then coming away friday night to attend a Mess Ball, then back again Saturday morning. Funny how packing makes you excited eh? :)

Off roading = off biking

We had brill time at Horizons.

I have watched Scott gut & skin roadkill then we ate it!!!
Had roadkill stew
learned how to change tyres, and basic maintenence.
Pick a motorbike up when dropped, ( girls group only!!! what they trying to say !!!)
Met Lois Pryce and she signed my book and had a laugh about our Serrow
Met Ted Simon and he signed my book. Listened to his talk on Africa, he looked very tired.
Simon Gandolffi his talk was Asia and was really really funny.
Ian Mutch who was a little pervey !!! took my picture and signed my book.
Met people from around the world.
Campfired, Gin'ed AND learned off roading = off biking!!!!!

Dropped George for the first time

But in fairness so did lots of other people and it was my first time on rutted grass on a hill !!!!

What a fantastic weekend! Weather brilliant, venue brilliant, and the food excellent considering the numbers involved..!

As usual I didn't get to see all the things I wanted to, but those I did were great. I was a little dissappointed that the GlobeBusters show coincided with the mighty Austin Vince - I would have loved to have seen both.

I hope that my modest little offerings were well received - I have to be honest any say that I was bricking it a bit, but the absence of too much heckling or any soft tomatoes a bit of a bonus...:augie

There was much merriment in the meadow that day ... what must the locals have thought ... :augie

We got back this afternoon at around 4pm after a B road bimble home... Managed to find a 5 mile section of the Ridgeway open and welcoming all motor vehicles, so we owed it to ourselves to give it a go ...

Although I wasn't selfless enough to capture the image of carnage that followed me falling off the bike after being stupid enough to scratch my nose whilst riding a rut... :blast A new screen and indicator will be on by Tuesday.

Anyhoo, I had a blast, and it was great to meet up with Paddy Rick and DiveLandy as well as Jon Fox ... there were loads of 800s there - it's a shame that we didn't manage to organise our own little get together ... next time maybe!

Hope everyone got home safely ... time for a :jager now!

Greg

Enjoyed it whilst been drained of energy.

I video'd Austins gig, got his permission but he added 'not to go on youtube' ..I've a Vimeo account so everything is okay.

However 45minutes might be pushing my luck for an upload :augie

Chit-later peeps :Motomartin

It was a bit touch and go as to whether I could go to this event but in the end it all worked out and I was chuffed to meet GSbiker (sorry we didn't manage to have that pint), Fireman, Greggers, Gunzenbomz, Wookie and his good lady, Colebatch, Austin and Lois, Chris and Dave. The weather was brilliant and the event was bigger but didn't suffer because of that. If anything the video tent made it less cramped.

Gunzenbomz had the right idea...

I saw an F800GS Rat bike there :augie

I took this photo because they closed the Cat and Fiddle Macclesfield to Buxton road so I thought sod that. I'll get through one way or another. So I went cross country :augie but hit an obstacle when the construction guys had set up camp on a connector road. So I had to squeeze through the gap between the portakabin and the skip. :cool

Got a funny look from a bloke having his cup of tea inside. There was about a 3ft gap and thanks to my soft panniers I managed to get through at a squeeze... closed my arse...

This is Dave Lomax of Adventure-Spec. He really is taking this lightweight thing too far. I think he melted away in the heat :D

Ah right. That guy is way too extreme for me, I do like a tent you can get in to and comfortably change out of your soggy gear in.

Fantastic weekend ~ :thumb2

It was certainly more crowded than last year, but the extra tent (and the late movies) was a great idea.

As usual, and in many different ways, it was inspiring...

Nice to meet a couple of you there. :beerjug:

I almost spat out my breakface on Sunday watching Greggers & co take their group photo...

I'm sure i heard someone utter the unutterable in a presentation "i met up with some people from the UKGSER club"
