Hows it goin folks,

I was just wondering if anyone was going from Ireland to the meeting in ripley on the 18,19,20 june ?

Its my first time going to one of these or any other biking travel event for that matter !
Ive not long had the bike after changing from a land rover, If anyone is interested in travelling over or meeting up im goin on the morning boat on thursday from dublin to holyhead.

cheers adam :aidan

Hi Adam

First time to a Horizons meet? No better way to get the bug! Careful, this traveling bug is seriously contagious and there will be a lot of carriers at Ripley!! Seriously, you will not regret Ripley and I can guarantee that you will meet some great people and come back buzzing and with very itchy feet! Probably the best biker meet I have been to.

(That's why I am heading on from Ripley to Spain,France, Germany....... etc!)

I will be heading over from Dublin to Holyhead on Thursday morning too and present plans are to do the scenic biking route up through Wales before bee lining to Ripley. I will be traveling with another bike (both of us two up)

Interested in tagging along?

Liam

Hi Adam

Been a few times and wouldn't miss it! I don't know of anyone who has been and not come back buzzing. You may not know it yet but that weekend could set you on very new paths!

We are booked on 8.20 from Dublin on 18 June (early start from Co. Down!) No problem with teaming up especially if you happy with the scenic trip. Should still leave us arriving in Ripley in good time for a pint and a bit of craic. I have offered to help out with whatever is needed on the day and I would recommend you consider the same. Great way to meet up with people and feel part of it.

I suspect a prelim running order will be on site soon. It can be very fluid and can change even on the day. Suggest you pick out several "must see" talks but you will be spoilt for choice. I thing that Ted Simon is giving opening talk and that will be worth catching. If ever there was an iconic bike traveller....

Keep in contact in next few weeks and we can arrange to meet up on boat.

Liam

Hi lads,
for those who are going to ripley, about 20+ years ago, I worked briefly in the area, you might check out Anchor army surplus stores in the town, which could have anything from a tank to watch.( where I got a ww2 sheepskin flying jacket and some engineering tools, the jacket seems to have shrunk over the years but the micrometer hasent:D) and the excivator pub out the ambergate road which had a Mk1 JCB on the roof.

Fcuk

Good question Adam

Will check on monday and let ye know ( I think its Stena but will confirm!)

Geez Dermot dont remember JCB on roof? But maybe with a few  with Slim , Brendy and co we will find!! And if we dont...few more

Liam

I'm on a grey GSA but there'll probably be hundreds of them (next to the red ones) :)

How about each of you texting me yr name to 0868188390 and I'll forward each number to the others (if you know what I mean).

Denis

Hi Liam,

ill be booking the stena very shortly, :thumb2

Not long to go now:beerjug:

out of interest

as i'm at a loose end that weekend i thought i'd pop along with Camille and spend the day. Can you do this or is it some sort of sealed event.

Syco

You could take your chance on the day but I know that bookings are close to limit.

A quick email to Susan or Grant Johnston on Horizons Unlimited site (go down to meetings section UK Spring meeting) would give you a better idea.

When you are on the website, have a look at the people attending and you may reconsider "just a day" !!

Liam

I'll be leaving work on the Friday around 4pm and riding over to Ripley. Should take me about an hour. I reckon by then most of you will have already arrived and set up basecamp and then be propping up the bar :beerjug:
