Horn Fitting

Just got a Stebel magnum horn from Nippy Normans, on his web site it says that you can Keep the horn connector on the harness, remove the corresponding connector on the OE horn and attach this connector to the new Magnum horn for a really neat connection. Has anybody done it this way? And if so, how did you get the connector off the OE horn?

As above, ten minute job, excellent result. I also drilled a small hole at the bottom of the horn to stop water gathering, you will see what I mean if you fit to the OE bracket and point the trumpet forwards.

Yes, I have managed to use the connectors from the OE horn but it was much more painful than I anticipated. You have to:
completely destroy the OE horn to get it open
drill out the rivets to remove the connector
attach a small harness to the horn side of the OE connector to bridge from the connector to the new horn (I could not see any way to fit the OE connector onto the new horn without destroying the new horn as well)
Result: new horn is wired into the existing harness without having damaged the harness but at the expense of destroying the orginal horn and having to make up a short interconnecting harness.
If after all this you are still interested, I can let you know how I made the small bridging harness.

Got it sorted, destroyed my O.E horn for the connector (O.E horn would have ended up in the bin sometime anyway) Now have a proper horn, nearly jumped out of my boots when I tried it out in the garage
