During a nasty crash a couple of years ago i sustained a neck injury which is starting to cause me trouble/more pain than usual when riding. Docs have said nothing to be done but im not going to let it stop me riding until it becomes dangerous/unbearable. I need to change my helmet for something lighter and have narrowed the choice down to two after doing some research. I've tried on the shoei hornet which felt lighter and better balanced for me than my current shoei raid2 and the main benefit of this was the much larger face port opening giving a better field of vision, less head movement for shoulder checks etc. My concern is does the peak catch the wind to the extent it would negate the benefit of the weight loss and greater vision aspect of the helmet.
My other choice is the shark rsi which has some good reports particularly relating to weight, has anyone tried one of these, ive always stuck to shoei over the years so dont know what quality is like on sharks especially as i use the bike as my main transport and it would get a lot of use.
I've rule out some of the lightweight carbon lids on either 'cost' grounds and reports that the finish on some bare carbon lids deteriorates easily. I know i could remove the peak on the hornet but without it it looks f@#kin awful and i am a tart.
