Have an idea to set up a web site that has forum capabilities.
I've searched the web and there are potential hosts but wondered if anyone here has any recommendations?
This GS forum uses vBulletin which is very good but expensive but I haven't found any host which provides it for free.

I can recommend register365 they have one click installs for blogs, forums cms etc and cheap too. Steve here is also a good bet I think fast2host but wait for a confirmation of that. Setting up a forum is actually quite easy, I did it once just to see. And PaulBHT even gave me some tips at the time

Fast2Host is run by Steve Currell here.....tossers get a 15% discount and many of us here use them.

They have a one-click (installatron) install for a lot of software units, including phpBB (which is free)

CLICKETY HERE

Thoroughly recommended......if you do a quick search for Fast2Host here, you'll see a lot of positive comments from various UKGSer denizens :thumb2

thanks for the prompt responses

I should have added:
- I want a UK based host
- I have some experience at building web site (writing HTML in Notepad)

fast2host looks promising :thumb2

Have a look at Joomla and Kunena (both are free)

I run a Joomla based website with a Kunena forum and it's really easy to use

you'll just need a host that can provide the pre-requisites (SQL etc.)
